Borderlands

yeah its an absolute massive fail the whole lobby system/port forwarding/needing gamespy ID on steam
really unforgivable, hopefully all the bugs will be ironed out cos when you're actually playing with mates, its damn good.

oh and they need a push-to-talk mic setting. my epic sneezes nearly gave tefal a heart attack today :D

Anyone getting annoyed with vehicles? I might be missing something stupid but when you enter a vehicle it asks if you want to go in the driver seat or turret, I have to get out then go back in again for the engine to start?

Also, quest locations on the map... is there a way to get it to show more than one objective? I end up doing one objective, then another, but I could get it all done in one swoop if you know what I mean, if it was all marked on the map in some way, just your selected quest was highlighted.

Didn't BF2 have the same glitch for a while?

Can someone explain the game saving.

Ive just started playing. I created a character....saved at a poll station....some bandits attacked the base the robot was trying get into..i killed them all, collected a shet load of stuff....saved at another polling station .....quit the game.

When i go back in, its at the start (albeit with my stats saved) .....the robot has asked me to save (again?) & the same bandits just attacked the base again ....wtf is going on?

The game uses the New-U stations as spawn points. So if you save near an ordinary pole when you load you'll not appear there but at a New-U station. Plus the game world resets when you load so all enemies will be back and lockers all unopened. So always finish your game session at a New-U (marked as outposts on the map).

Anyone who's having trouble hosting, try GameRanger. I'm on uni internet so can't open ports, couldn't host using Gamespy but can host using GameRanger, plus it's very easy to use (install, add 3 friends, run Borderlands through GameRanger and invite them).

I was rather suprised by that as well, as a lv8 Hunter with the quest weapons that TK Baha gives you from his wifes grave, all it took to kill the boss guy was a single Sniper Crit and a Bloodwing attack and he was lying on the floor shelling out crap weapons, ammo and cash.
You on about Bonehead? What weapon did you use to take him out in a single shot!? Took me ages to take him down!

I'm thinking I might have missed some weapons somewhere, I'm level 8 and dont recall any weapons from Baha's wife's grave.

Having great fun with this game (haven't even touched the mp thanks to gamespy) got to level 22 with Brick. Wasn't sure how much fun a melee guy would be in this game but rather than ignoring weapons the berserker skill is more of a panic/'buggar this everything must die!' button.

The way they've worked out the weapons has worked quite well, ive never been stuck with one uber weapon for ages nor have had to keep on switching weapons every level. Saying that though i found a really nice purple 12 shot shotgun that only now after maybe 5 or so levels of using it is beginning to need more than one careful shot to kill normal enemies. Also found a shotgun that shot rockets :D Was very cool, used shotgun shells for ammo and did pretty good damage but just wasn't that practical as it had poor accuracy and only fired one slooooow rocket per shot.

EDIT: From the TK's wives grave you get the Ladys something-or-other (luck maybe?) pistol and one other random gun. Fenris must have got lucky and received a good crit dmg sniper rifle.

Thinking about it though for me Bonehead went down really quickly and it was his pet skags that caused the problems.

Not my most damaging sniper rifle in terms of raw damage but the 3x explosive mean when i head shot anything their head arms and legs explode off their body and it seems to do more damage than the higher dmg one:D

Not to mention it's matt black (it looks soo cool ), magazine fed, has an extra 75% ammo cap on top of the normal one thanks to skills and proficiencies make it rapid fire :D

I wuv my sniper rifles :D

edit >.< doh chaning the format to jpeg seems to have added a huge border.

It's a shame that they haven't taken advantage of all that Steam has to offer to be honest.. :( Luckily, like everyone else, I have a GameSpy account that hasn't been used for three or so years. :p

Yes, seems a bit of a shame it's published via Steam, but doesn't use it's great features...

You'd assume Valve would allow 3rd parties to use them if only to help Steam. So I'm guessing they just decided to go GameSpy isntead :(

apparently valve offer extensive software, support and even dev teams to help get patches, mods, and steam extras working for games to the company who makes them.

For a game that prides itself on co-op I think its amazing how un-user friendly this portion of it is. Getting into a co-op game feels really clunky and doesn't work half the time and when you do eventually connect the game that was listed as level 1 is acutally full of level 20s and way ahead of where you are.

If you host your own game, generally you get people joining in the correct level range. I agree though, coop is in need of a few user friendly patches :).
