Borderlands

Some help please, got this game off steam but having some trouble playing. I can't seem to get anywhere on the first mission just off the bus. I follow claptrap to the village but then he stops there. All of the houses have closed doors and I can't seem to do anything. Also my game doesn't seem to save, or it does but when i load it just kicks me back to the start when you get off the bus, any solutions?

Tefal/Squark, if you guys have a space free I'd be up for starting a new character - will be free after the footy around 5 ish. Don't really mind who I am as I intend to play them all at some point.

Pathetic, tried port forwarding and even that doesn't work. If it wasn't for the fact that the singleplayer is enjoyable i'd have thrown this game to the dogs.

..ok so im on lv13 but im starting to get alittle puzzled by the guns.. . . .i was under the impression the guns could be customised a million different ways, yet ive not seen a single crazy moment of "rocket magnums with sniper scopes!!!!1111".

Over a millions guns? hmmm

Strange. Have you tried starting a new game or posting on the official forums? As for the saves, I always get kicked back to the start (although progress does get saved)...very annoying.

Two tips for everyone:

1) Opposite the arena in the area you start in is a bridge into a bandit type hideout on the side of a hill. They are all levels 13 and 14, BUT in the lowest house on the side of the hill is a crate full of level 22-25 weapons. Found a mod worth 10,000 in there :). A good source of income everytime you go past.

2) Have also noticed level 2-10 people joining a lot of level 20-25 games. They seem to level to about level 12 in 20 minutes. A lot quicker than any other way (assuming someone is happy to revive them).

Did a few more hours coop today. The same two people joined as last night, then we always get a random person. So far so good. Haven't had anyone trying to take all of the weapons or anything like that. The people there to level quickly can be a bit annoying (since they are weak, but them being there makes the enemies tougher), but it is still fun and I dont mind. Keep an eye out for my host server (Rave is a lootin'). There is often a space on there. Will be on after about 10pm tonight (level 24 I think I am now) with microphone and all.

Just as a side note, how do you disable the sound activated microphone in-game, so that you can then push a button to talk via Steam?

I think for a game with such a strong emphasis on co-op play the developers have really done a terrible job of implementing it. Joining a game and having my quest journal instantly fill up with tons of quests way to high for me to complete is pretty annoying as it spoils the pacing of the game. On the second playthrough I wouldn't care but it seems to almost force you to have one character for offline play and one for online that you don't really care about. Jumping in and out of games just doesn't work very well so unless you all start at the same time and only use those characters to play with the same 3 other people its all a bit of a mess. Shame becasue the game itself is a lot of fun, its just let down by its online side.

True, but it helps if you host a game. That way you are in control (or at least more control) of the quests.
