Bought an old BMW M3, filled with regret...

You guys are right, it does have the strut bar, ive only had the car 3 weeks so didn't really notice it lol.

Anyhow some pictures over the bank holiday weekend, took it out for a nice drive along an A road out to a pub which was nice. Great with the roof down when the sun is out. Had a subframe check also from a Master technician who used to be at Sytner, its all clear. He also said in his 15 years running his own business hes only seen one with subframe issues.

He's obviously been very lucky then. It's something which will happen sooner or later. You don't get BMW offering to do £5000 subframe fixes (for cars under 10 years) free of charge for problems which aren't endemic.

Also, I've lost count of the number of people who have said that BMW dealers have given the subframe the all clear, then decent BMW Specialists have found cracks. And if the guy who did yours has only seen one in 15 years, I'd say it possible he doesn't know what he's looking for and to get a second opinion from a well known Specialist .

Yup get it inspected by ETA/Redish etc. Those are the only places within drivable distance to me I'd trust with subframe stuff. If ETA give it the all clear, then it's all clear.

the sound difference is mad! :) how did you root yours?

Type in *#hct#root# in the Factory password menu :p

You do have a good point, if i was to take my car to BWM would they do a free subframe check without taking money off me? My car is 10 years old this June in 2016 which is right now.
Lovely car btw. Best colour combo evar.

Thanks man, i do love the colour if i may say so, its an Indivdual with 53k on the clock. Here is a picture of the different shades of Blue. Mine is a LeMans Blue.

Toledo Blue, that would be great with red leather.

If I ever have a new respray, then that's the colour I want

But yes, BMW do a free health check and you get a printout of everything that has been checked, the list is fairly comprehensive.

Thanks for that mrk, what if it goes slightly over 10 years say like 10 years and 2 months? Im going to get mine booked in asap!

Booked it in to Sytner for subframe check on the 11th June. The guy on the phone said "we have done these for free in the past but we may have to let you know on the day about charging you"

I said "its a fault that was created by BMW's development team, therefore its down to BMW to fix the fault for free of charge"

He said "Yeah i understand, it should be ok on the day"

So i think they were just trying to get money out of me, anyhow all booked in even though i had a confirmation from NCB AutoKraft the other day that the Subframe is fine.

Anyone got any fixes for the window squeeling when hot and you try to put it up and down. It's only the drivers one and only when roasting hot.

Gummi Pflege on the rubber seal the window slides along when going up and down.

Does it leave any residue? Some people put silicon stuff on it but I couldn't think of anything worse!

Does anyone also have any idea how to keep the bottom window sill anchored down? It lifts off by a few mm everytime I put the window up.

I've used silicon before and it smears and eventually, after washing the car/cleaning the windows etc, just spreads everywhere and is impossible to remove.

Did you use the spray? I've never had a problem with it. You have to make sure it dries completely first though and not to use too much.

Not found Gummi to leave any residue really.

Don't mean to be a pain, but any chance you could share pictures of your viper/audio player/headunit amp settings?

I have similar taste in music. I had a little play with viper but couldn't get it quite right.

I'll get the settings after work today. I'm also considering adding a sound mod to the stick amplifier in the boot just to add some fidelity. Whilst the viper app is very good, I now also want to add that fidelity the stock amp doesn't have. It was something I was planning on before anyway but wanted the head unit sorted first.

By the way, Evolve stage 1 remap booked for Monday!
