Bought an old BMW M3, filled with regret...

Polish prep and finish being applied currently and the Ceramic coating guy is doing his thing. As you can tell the weather isn’t great and the unit it is in is in active use during the day so the car needs to move around until the evening where it stays there for each stage (of 3) to cure. It was going to be ready for today post ceramic treatment, but because of the weather this might roll into Friday. Before the weekend either way. I do hope this weather doesn’t continue through the weekend.

I have all the photos I need before, during and after repairs so was just waiting for the finished product so I can get the final pics for my records.

Good luck with it, what is this ceramic treatment m8?

Only briefly on the way to work, everything appeared fine so left them to it. I trust their workmanship though and they're fully aware of how detailed I am.

I would recommend you stop always considering worst case scenarios :p

Not checking a body shops work on any job let alone one this complex is borderline insane. I can't remember the last time I had paint work done that was perfect and needed no quality control after.

Once a third party is let loose on the paint both sides have deniability if anything is wrong.

I've mentioned before it's not the first time they've worked on this car, recall the metal flying off a lorry and cracking the front bumper aero lip bit and scratching the paintwork? They resprayed the entire front end and nobody knew/spotted it had been resprayed other than a few here that I specifically told about it. If they did a bad job I'd have not gone back to them after rejecting the work.

Also, the bill has not been settled yet, so if for whatever reason things aren't up to scratch once everything is done, then I simply will not settle the bill and will hand the key back for whatever it is to be sorted.

As I say, I trust their work based on past experiences and their own words are that the last thing they want is someone to come back to them with an issue.

On a scale of 1-10, how detailed are you?

And you will be more than happy for him to sand off that ceramic coating?

Well yes, as it will be put back on at their expense if your worst case scenario transpires.

Don't you have a mate with a bodyshop that does jobs for you too? Aren't you ever worried about getting a duff job by the same principle? :p

If the bill has not been settled yet and the car is still at the body shop, what's to stop them keeping your keys until payment? You're far too trusting, but I hope everything works out as planned.

You guys sure do like amping up the fear factor on this forum or what!

Not the fear factor, but these sorts of scenarios happen far too often. I'm not the sort of person to say I told you so either but make sure you do your due diligence before the car is handed back and the money is paid. Just because you have had a good experience with someone before, it doesn't pay to be overly trusting of them.
