Bought an old BMW M3, filled with regret...

Must be tbh as he knows nothing about the car. Saying you'd pay 15k just based on looking at it parked out side a body shop makes no sense.

That's what I'm thinking, I'll humour him and see if he's genuine or just luls talking in that "oh I'd buy it for 15k if you were selling it mate" sort of thing.

Car feels exactly the same to drive, the new heatshield at the back is just as rattly as the old one was when closing the boot (an E46 convertible feature perhaps?), but I can get a clip installed to secure it if I want, maybe on a spare Sunday afternoon... no real bother on that front. All the cars I've been driving the past 50 odd days have had awkward clutches and super light steering racks, so driving my car for the first time today did have a "wow this steering rack has weight" and "this clutch is actually good", just stuff like that which I'd been missing.

Probably backs up the quality of this guy's work if someone knows him and is willing to pay that kind of premium.

I'd certainly follow up on it though, you have nothing to lose.

People see anything shiny and go ooh though, but this guy has a string of old/classic sports cars so who knows, maybe he's some secret wealthy bloke?

Can only wish :p

If its the same as I mine ( no reason why its not) during normal driving the car sounds give or take the same as it did before adding it. The noise only really ramps up when you put you foot down which is nice. ( First part of mrk video shows what I mean, car sounds normal as he is going around and coming off the roundabout until he puts his foot down then it comes to life).

That intake sounds pretty nice  how does it sound when driving normally?

Does the car sound less raspy now?

Rasp is exactly the same as that is generated in the mid pipe section and accentuated by the backbox. The rasp comes fully alive starting from 4500-5000rpm while the induction noise is from 2500rpm-5000rpm. I will get a better video with better audio of just normal driving as this is when you hear the induction the most, little bits of acceleration in 2nd, 3rd and 4th just keeping up free flowing traffic or squeezing the throttle below the rasp threshold.

Pretty much this :p

Glad this is sorted - sounds like you've come out of it with a win/win - you either have the car you love that's better than it was before, or a sizeable profit if that chap does want to buy it!
