Bought an old BMW M3, filled with regret...

This is why the majority of E46 M3's that are for sale (that are SMG's) aren't listed in the title as such, the manuals are so much more appealing and saleable.

If people are looking for manuals it's because they want a manual, people that list stuff on purpose are idiots. What if someone is actually looking for an SMG and the one they are selling won't come up!

At £2.5k you could have bought it, got a used starter motor on eBay to get it running, then put it up for auction. Even with the SMG fault you could have easily made £1k. Next time you get offered something like that, give me a message :p

There are two kinds of bonds in the world, a bond with tea, and am M3 m8 bond

But... Are those carpets I see from another car? That passenger side mat is too grey and too small! If someone is willing to fit incorrect mats, what else is incorrect on it I have to ask?!

The tea bond will always be stronger than the M3 bond mrk m8:cool:

Failed to buy an M3, filled with regret? :p:D

Dunno if you follow my posts much but i use to buy the odd car to do up and sell on, bit of extra cash whilst i had a ****** job. So 1 year ago i would have bought it without hesitation. These days though, i dont need to do it, nore have the time anymore.

Was pondering over it as a play car but because i know it would end up on a AA truck more than the roads, i decided against it.

Tim, do you miss that guy who is always sat on that wall staring at cars 24/7? Was he one of your tea friends?

I genuinely don't know who you mean. Chesterfield has a fine selection of weirdo's but I don't recall anyone sat on the wall:p Oh btw, that new wooden fence at the top, that's my doing:D

Can you rephrase that please, Stavely has a fine selection of weirdos. It is where the council stick all the smackheads, sex offenders and job centre crew. You would have been like the Richard Brandson of Stavely basically :p

Can't believe you dont know who i mean, he literally sits on that wall 24/7 a bit down from your house across from that corner shop.

St. Aveley is beautiful, dunno what you're on about:p I made it nicer by writing to the council asking for a new fence near the road:p I genuinely had no trouble in the 3+ years I was there. Was a great first house to get me on the property ladder.

Anyway, no more thread derailing. Sheffield > Chesterfield > Staveley:D

Sitting at motorway speeds cruising along then just gently applying some throttle results in a burble coming from the Eventuri. Such a great sound. I think it's been a solid investment this.

This is pretty true.

Best gif.

I actually didn't need to re-do the bolster. turned out it was just dirt that needed wiping down.

The bolster is currently the same as how it turned out after I restored it when I got the car:

I used the Furniture Clinic kit, but back then I opted for satin finish seal whereas I should have got the semi-matte finish. I've since bought semi-matte for when I need to restore it again in the near future. It's a subtle difference but semi-matte is 1:1 to OEM. Satin has a little sheen to it which is noticeable only up close in daylight.

I am always impressed when I see that. I have similar wear on my Bolster on my 1 series, so I want to do just the same in a few months :) Or perhaps pay someone who is more useful than I am likely to be!

I wanted Furniture Clinic to come out to do mine initially. They wanted £175 minimum

Always nice to learn a new skill and save £175 :p

As much as I like the American Chrome finished wheels, I'm finding it a chore keeping the polished rim dish clean of crud. If it was anthracite like on the OEM diamondcut finish then I would just wipe the polished face every other day leaving the inner bits until washing the car properly because they're dark grey anyway.

Think I'll pop down to BM Autosport next week and see about getting the wheels re-done in diamondcut, or trade my wheels for a fresh diamondcut set.

I know the OEM finish doesn't last as long as a normal painted/polished finish, but hey ho.

Brake calliper rebuild and clean toward the end of the month (perfect timing too as the rear passenger calliper is sticking every now and then).

Yeah, think I'm just about sold on a diamond cut finish with anthracite inserts from FAWheels. It just looks so right.
