Bought an old BMW M3, filled with regret...

I dunno about the remap now really, the sound and small response boost from the engine at mid revs alone is enough to keep me happy. Is £399 for 20 more HP and sharper engine response worth that amount?

20bhp for £400 is about as cheap as you'll get for N/A tuning, I'd love to be able to add that much power for such an amount of money :p

My car is no M3, but my god can I relate to that... :p

I want more power but its impossible. :(

Should have bought something with a turbo!

I could understand if it were say a 200BHP engine going to 220+ from a remap, but 338BHP to around 360, just how noticeable will that be on the road? It's pretty fast as it is!

Do we have an OcUK RR event coming up? I want to see if the Eventuri alone has increased the power, it certainly pulls harder in the mid range revs.

All extra power comes after 6000rpm so if your not often pushing the car beyond 6000rpm then a remap would be a waste for you.

The stock car is pretty flat from 6500-8000rpm, with a remap they are no longer flat and keep pulling until 8000rpm.

Hmm according to the Powerstation dyno graph my car made peak power at 7010rpm and it was flat after that point. I'm assuming there's a small difference between SMG vs Manual for power delivery at these figures maybe?

SMG is a manual. ;)

Depends how you drive and where the extra power is added, if its all top end and you rarely rev it out then there's not much point I guess :)

Not sure on the RR day, Powerstation have gone bust though so we won't be having a meet there anytime soon :(

I am working on a new venue that has another maha dyno that can handle 4WD/2WD and a lot of people at once.

Trying to find something rather central again as well so slightly south of Birmingham.

Oh I thought I did update here earlier!

Unless you mean pics, in which case not any time soon since the weather is terrible and the run hasn't shone in yonks.

See a pic of the car by JanesyB from the meet thread:

More in March following the new meet I guess at this rate. The orange peel is being seen to in a couple of weeks time, going to be wet sanded and polished, then the sealant re-applied. Can't wash the car for a couple weeks anyway to avoid risk the paintwork still, which is fair.

Some orange peel, about what you get on new BMWs, some people are fine with it, some aren't... Back then paint didn't have orange peel like modern cars do.

I hope you're happy with it after all this work, sure you'll get it done to a high standard though :)

Looking forward to another RR day, might have some more power by then if its April/May time! :D

Nearly had this :

My mechanic went to take it away to look at the gearbox/SMG (SMG Pump had a leak in the end), the starter motor decided to give up so the car could not be moved... Decided i couldn't be arsed with it as i know it would end up being a money pit.

It ended up going to a breaker for £3k. I could have had it for £2.5k

Seller was my work mate who just bought a new M3 so lost all interest in this e46.

126k miles, service history up to 110k. Really tidy body work and interior... I know, daft not taking a punt at it but as i said, i couldn't be arsed with it. Kinda know the life of it and the past year it has caused him nothing but problems, though most problems did get ironed out.
