Bought an S2000!

24 with 6 years NCB, and £620 in a good part of Bath... (few minor modifications) and excess ~ 300

Maybe its my optimism, but I'd have still thought ~300BHP 3.5L v6 > 2L 240bhp 4pot in terms of insurance madness?

Insurance group also, 45 for the 350z and 40 for the S2k

the average 350z driver obviously has better car control than that of an S2K driver, lol just kidding ;)

They have a high claim record from the early days, also they used to be group 20 out of 20. Power doesn't dictate how the car gives feedback around corners.

The early models were very snappy especially on the original SO2 tyres which were **** in the wet. The passive rear steering catches a lot of people out too as it turns the front end in when you lift off the throttle.

Turning 30 seems to have helped with quotes. Standard quote with admiral coming in at £620 and that's me not even tried the specialists yet. I've been kicking about in an old 1.25 fiesta and to change the policy to the S2000 its only costing an extra £140. Policy due for renewal in September.

I'll do a half decent writeup soon, got a couple of trips up north planned, Applecross hopefully being one of them.

Probably the car I look at most on Autotrader, which is where I'm off again in a sec! Nice buy :)

Only thing I don't like about the S2000 is the steering wheel though, can't put my finger on why, just doesn't look right to me.

Ive paid £1200 reducing every year to £600 this year, owned the car 6 years now. 29 with 7 yr NCB. Aplan or Sky usually. Chris knott have stopped insuring them.

Might end up getting a newer one as my next car.

That's a pretty impressive quote. Who's that with? Excess/mileage?

Adrian Flux, underwritten by RBS but since they closed doors it's now from Group Armor (spelling might be off on that but something to that effect) Cannot remember if I limited the mileage on this renewal but the difference with unlimited was about 60 quid anyway.

Excess is pretty standard, about £250 I think.

Mods declared also (cat-back being the biggest change)

Being in Jersey seems to be a big a huge difference although I can generate high quotations on other vehicles if I wanted to.

Even at 23 when I first bought it I insured it for £600. Adrian flux quoted me that while others wanted over a grand. It's strange because while £380 is not pocket change, as far as car insurance goes, even locally, there is not a lot that would be significantly cheaper for me.

Are the OEM Bridgestones worth it over the Falken 452's? Seems I can get 4 delivered and fitted for not much more than 2 of the Bridgestones. Everything I seem to read about them is positive. Is it just people trying to justify saving a few quid or are they genuinely good?

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Bridgestones ideally or Eagle F1AS2 Ive just put on are decent but my car is not standard (Koni adjustables, braces, poly bushs and WIM fast road setup)

Falken 452s are an example of purchase justification syndrome. The S2000 needs stiff sidewall tyres

The OEM fitment was RE050MZ. These are being made obselete and replace with RE050A. The fronts size are difficult to find in this size.

The good years would be worth a try if the Bridgestones are difficult to find, its a shame they dont do the S001s in those sizes.
Go for 91Y XL fronts if you go for F1AS2 though.

MZ are a pain to find now for all round fitment, I could not source any front fitment sized ones at a reasonable price over a year ago so now they are more than likely non existent. As recommended by Honda/Bridgestone/others RE050As are on the front now instead of MZs.
