Bournemouth Deaths

Could they of been dragged out to sea by a rip tide/rip currant
probably more likely to be a current, but i don't think so - report says they sustained critical injuries, not a dorwning-type thing. seems they've ruled out the pier-jump too, so it's a bit odd.

unless they got punched by an octopus

Scum behaviour from the 'great british public' towards those doing CPR didn't help. Abusing the medics and getting video for tiktok.

It common for family members to get abusive/physical as they are emotionally charged, but bystanders doing it for their own entertainment is sickening.

Is that true? I've not gone hunting for videos.

Seems like your comment is overblown nonsense. Some idiot got his phone out and made distasteful comments. So what

hardly useful as a comment on "the great British public" - considering the moron was lambasted for his comments.

The daily mail article interview a girl who said the kids we’re jumping from the pier and got carried out to sea by the tide, that kid survived but was hospitalised

Speaking to the MailOnline, Ms Tate's dad said: "We’ve seen all the stuff about boats and jet skis but it wasn’t like that. She was swimming in the sea with her friends when the rip tide took them out.

He was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter...

Everyone in the UK is arrested 'on suspicion' of commiting one or more offences.

Because that's the standard for arrest, 'reasonable suspicion'.

So there is no functional difference between the following two statements:

1) 'X' was arrested for manslaughter

2) 'X' was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.

other than 2 being somewhat of an unnecessarily duplicitous sentence as the fact that someone has been arrested inherently means that there were suspected of commiting an offence or offences.

You're a little late to this one... The original post stated he had been arrested for manslaughter, I was simply advising it was for "suspicion of".

Not everyone is as familiar as you may be with the concepts of arrest Vs charged so some would assume that being arrested for manslaughter meant the accused was going to court for it whereas "on suspicion" indicates that he isn't going to court (yet).

The OP seemed happy with the clarification and so edited their post to reflect it.

p.s. -

Not true for everyone in the UK (Scotland for example) but that's just pedantry now :p

Its been a few days and still there's no clear, concise information of what happened from the Police for an incident that that required someone to be arrested on suspicion of manslaughter with a boat seized, when a victims dad only mentioned a rip tide being involved (a natural occurrence, like a lightning strike etc) and yet the Police WILL confirm a few negatives (Not a jump from a pier, Not a boat collision etc).

Why on earth the police have decided to have such a seemingly unnecessary "close-hold" of info over this is baffling to me, it's just driving people into the arms of random conspiracy theories.

The police don't have a recent exemplary record of investigating potential deaths by drowning, maybe keeping schtum is their current MO? Maybe they like being beside the seaside in this balmy weather and intend to pan it out as long as the weather holds?

To be pedantic for both of us - Incident happened on Wednesday, it's now Friday, thats "a few days" but it's also less than 48hrs since the exact time of the incident until the time I posted - so we're both correct - are you happy or do we want to waste more foirum space/time with worthless pedantic crap?
