Brazilian Grand Prix 2012, São Paulo - Race 20/20

Don't think I'd be meddling with Massas gearbox seal this time, he's got a chance of getting past Vettel and mixing things up at the front. They need him to try back Vettel up a bit or take a risk getting past him.
Exactly, no point moving Massa back to gain Alonso one place when he can mix it up. Massa needs to get his car along side Vettel at the first corner and give him a choice, either let the place go or crash.

Presenters you're all idiots. It has nothing to do with being in brazil.
What advantage would they gain from dropping massa back 5 places. We don't have a stupidly dirty side of the grid where anyone starting on it was guaranteed to lose a minimum of one place.

Do you stupid presenters really think Ferrari won't use team orders as its brazil.

Such a frustrating season for Mclaren, had the car and drivers to win both titles but wont win either due to team incompetence early on and reliability late on!

Hamilton is driving as well as he ever has as the moment, just as he's leaving!

I think if Webber or Massa take out a title rival, that driver could receive a serious penalty. Nothing of this sort has happened for at least 20 years and I don't think it's going to happen tomorrow (unless it is a genuine, unavoidable collision).

My gut feeling is that Alonso's car is setup for a wet race. If it is wet, expect Alonso to race up the field. If it doesnt rain, Alonso is hoping for a Vettel DNF.

Ferrari had no choice but to try out a radical strategy (which doesn't involve Massa hitting Vettel).

Ferrari had to do this. If they set up their car for a dry race (like Vettel), then Vettel would beat Alonso everytime, in a dry race (just as he has done in the last few races).

Even if Massa and Vettel do DNF its still going to be difficult for Alonso to get 4th.

In the race, Alonso is always stronger.
He almost always makes up positions during the race.

Do you honestly believe Maldo, Hulk or Massa have the ability to finish ahead of Alonso, in the race?

I predict Alonso will jump up to fifth at the start tomorrow. From there though, he has a lot of work to do and no doubt Webber will be told to yield to Vettel. Should be an exciting race, though and I hope the McLarens have a good battle.

How are they gonna use team orders if there are cars in between the Ferraris?

For a start he can hold cars up, secondly strategies, thirdly there might not always be x-cars between them.
It really makes no sense to drop massa down 5places. It's better for massa to run in front and try and bunch them up.
If needed towards end of race. Massa can always let several cars through if say Vettel DNF and Alonso needed one more place.

There's just zero strategical reason to drop massa down at this point. They can use team orders to help Alonso out.

Literally. In Brazil, sports people and referees have been killed for not performing well (or doing as they are told).

I know most of the drivers and team principals are going to and from the track in armoured cars with police escorts.

It's not the safest place in the world.

At the start he will make up positions, but from there on...

McLaren and RBR are faster than him, so to get 4th he needs at least one of them to have issues and make up spaces on the drivers in front of him. Its not going to be easy.

Hamilton has been great all season. He seems to be in his prime at the moment, shame that the team let him down.

I'll agree with this.

Whilst it's clearly a team effort, they were saying Lewis has now got as many poles as Vettel. So clearly he's lost out in racing.

Interesting Mark just said he'd just race a clean race. I certainly don't think he'd jeopardise his race for Seb.

As a side point, anyone have any idea as to what's going on with Jake Humphrey and the BBC coverage next year?

Chances of McL having issues are quite high though :p and RBR may have alternator issues...

Jakes gone next year, he's off to BT to present their premiership football coverage from August. This is his final race.

As far as the BBC coverage I'd imagine it's the same as this year for 2013, not heard anything any different. Don't know how choosing the races for next season works though, same ones as this year or do the BBC choose again (I know they've got Silverstone and Monaco regardless)

Hmm ok, wonder who's replacing him. I've thought he's actually been quite good at it.

He'll definitely move over for Seb, if required.

Well yeah, but he's also not as likely as Massa to take a hit, or the such like. (I think Webber would go livid if they damaged his gearbox for a five grid penalty)
