Brazilian Grand Prix 2012, São Paulo - Race 20/20

Massa as close to Vettel as possible is their best option, not saying they want to or will, but its an option to take him out, its not entirely possible they won't hit each other in a completely fair, entirely unintentional attempt to overtake(though it would never be read as such).

Either way, Hamilton pole to finishing first.... not if Mclaren have anything to say about it, Webber, kers/alternator, Vettel, alternator, there are plenty of options for any of them to DNF and with rain, anything can happen.

Especially if people are trying to overtake chances of cars near the front spinning is relatively high, and if it starts dry then turns to rain... anything can happen, if it pee's it down on one side of the track and you've just past the pits, and have to inch round while someone 20 seconds behind puts on wets and burns around, you can gain 10 places, or you may not make it round the wet section. With rain involved, anything can happen, from Alonso starting brilliantly and being 1st by the third corner, to Alonso being at the back and winning after it starts raining, who knows.

I hope it does rain just for the chaos that will come from it.

I wouldn't bank on Massa being behind both Webber and Vettel past the first few corners anyway, Massa and Alonso are beastly off the line, and Vettel/Webber usually are anything but brilliant off the line. If Massa can get ahead in their quick first stint and hold them up at all Alonso has a great chance. Red Bull's might go tactical off the line though, as in, hold together and block the road so Massa can't get past, if they gang up on Massa though, they could leave a gap for someone else.

Thinking ahead, if Alonso did win the title due to Massa ramming Vettel off, would people really accept him as a deserving champion?

Ignoring the opinions of individual fans, I really can't see that going down well in the wider F1 community.

Im sure most people on here would like Vettel taken out :D

But the F1 fan in us would not want Vettel rammed off and ergo Alonso would not be a deserving champion.

Then again, Alonso is masterful at distancing himself from contreversy (e.g. Briatore/Piquet-gate). :p

Do less thinking, Massa is not that kind of driver, neither is Alonso.

What if you reverse the question and Alonso gets punted off by Webber.

Will people accuse Red Bull of more cheating?

Interestingly, this hasn't even been mooted. Not on here, not on the TV coverage. All the talk seems to be about ways Alonso can win.

Obviously if Webber takes out Alonso it will be the biggest crime in the history of F1 and RBR should be excluded from this and all championships. Yet Massa taking out Vettel seems to be a perfectly viable way for Alonso to win.

Even. Sky are getting into it, asking Massa and Stefano if Vettel should be looking over his shoulder at the first corner.

.... Vettel/Webber usually are anything but brilliant off the line.

Webber is pathetic off the line.
I also expect him to have some form of car failure tomorrow.

Vettel however, is usually brilliant off the line and mesmeric in the opening few laps of the GP. I don't understand how you can say Vettel is anything but great off-the-line, given that he time trials (brilliantly) when starting from pole and is usually able to drive the opening 2 laps of a GP faster than any other driver currently in F1. That's his specialty.

Hamilton usually needs a few laps to get into the groove.
While Alonso usually has even race pace throughout the entire race.

Well, the point I was getting at.. If Massa hits Vettel or if Webber hits Alonso, people are going to scream shenanigans.

I'd rather either didn't happen, if nothing so we don't end up with 100 pages of "did they, didn't they?"

It would work both ways.

If Massa or Webber are involved in deciding the championship tomorrow (by taking out Alonso or Vettel), expect either driver to be investigated and possibly receiving a massive (unprecedented) punishment. The team may also receive a punishment.

Here's a question for historians: when was the last time that a team-mate punted off their team-mate's championship rival, to allow their team-mate to win the title?

Maybe you should go lie down for a bit.

Can you imagine the name-calling which would result on this forum if it did Massa/Webber punted off Vettel/Alonso?

Given the serious nature of F1 threads on this forum, I would expect at least 5 people to receive suspensions for the ensuing arguments. :p

Webber is buddies with Alonso so that wont happen

In fact.. If it came to it, I can see Webber backing off to hand Alonso victory to stuff one up to RB/Seb !!

(Apparently.. The Germans "don't like it up em"!)

Of course it would be bad news either way, but it looks like the Massa Vettel idea has escalated from just fanboy internet ramblings to enough of a genuine possibility that Sky were talking about it in all 3 practice sessions and felt they could ask the teams and drivers about the possibility of it happening.
