Brazilian Grand Prix 2013, São Paulo - Race 19/19

"As of today, McLaren became the first team in Formula 1 history to have both its cars classified in every grand prix during the season.

"And, also as of today, McLaren completed 99.17% of the season’s total possible race distance – 7139 miles [11,488km] out of a possible 7198 miles [11,584km] – which is not only better than every other team managed this season but is also a new world record, beating the previous record of 98.30% set by BMW-Sauber in 2008.

Shame those stats amount to nothing more than a few stats to boast about, they mean nothing in real terms. McLaren haven't really got anything else to boast about this season and the sooner their next season comes around the better.

Ultimate reliability........just when the rules change and everyone starts from scratch:D

The brawn car had been in devlopment more and had the most money spent on it than any other car on the grid.

Thats questionable given how much Ferrari spend every year (also depends on how you look at it, for instance a revision of last seasons car should still have that cost associated with it , rather than just applying that season's budget to it).

No more 1 in 4 for McLaren now. Max Chilton got a better stat he is the youngest driver\rookie to finish every race.

If McLaren had that same statistic last season with the results they were getting they would have had both World Championships.

Shame they can't have both performance and reliability at the same time!

Also their own personal record for having the worst season ever :p

They need better drivers, but they are all taken now. Lets hope the new guy can do a Hamilton :)

Well aside from the obvious German winning again, I thought it was a good final race, one of the more interesting ones this season at least.

Pity it wasn't wet to spice it up even more.

Webber taking his helmet off for the warm down lap generated mega feels. (It looked so weird to see just a normal guy in an F1 car rather than a helmet)

Still don't know why heads wasn't rolling for the decision to have a complete new chassis and auro design for 2013.

Their 2012 car was brilliant, just a bit unreliable. Which could have surely been ironed out.

Who is at the very top of Mclaren?

They'd already stated that they had done pretty much everything they could to evolve the 2012 car, so a new approach would be necessary sooner or later anyway. Given that Ferrari suffered when they first moved to the pull-rod front suspension, it was probably better to get it out of the way before 2014 started.

The 2012 car was at the limit of deveopment. If they had stuck with that they would have been further back than they were in the 2013 car. I.e. the 2013 McLaren was better than the 2012 McLaren, but worse than their competitors 2013 cars.

Had they taken the risk and it paid off, people would be congratulating them on the decision to go with a new car.

I don't know. Quick run up of the end races which have the same tyres:

Austin for example:

2013 quali times:
vettel 1.36.338
Perez 1.37.452

2012 quali time:

Hammy 1:35.766

Abu Dhabi:

2013
Webber 1:39.957
Perez 1:41.068

2012
Hammy 1:40.630

The 2012 car was faster than the 2013 car in many races. Granted Mclaren doesn't have a top driver this year, but still...

It's a meaningless comparison, because the tyres are different between the two years.

The car was only quick at the end of the season, by which time the 2013 car would have been well into development already. At the end of the season they had got the most out of it, so would have been slower than this years as everyone gains off season as well.
