Hmm, Newey and his aero know-how and new regulations and hopefully a decent engine with unlimited upgrades available. Max potential WDC next year? Might be worth a punt.

Yep. Though I reckon Ricc has the measure of him most of the time. Though we've seen a couple of races where RB did their best McLaren impression on Rics strategy. Eitherway there's a good rivalry coming.

Ricciardo's definitely the more rounded driver at the moment, but Verstappen gave him a proper beating yesterday.

I'm not going to call Verstappen's performance yesterday great as most are. He was on a wets that were 20 laps fresher so it was inevitable he'd have more grip than everyone else (Ricciardo excepted). It was an entertaining fight back through, but it wasn't a Barcelona 96 moment like some were claiming - it wasn't even close.

I thought Nasr (who started last), Ocon (started 3rd last, and his first impressive drive for me) and Sainz (started 15th) were all more deserving of driver of the day than Verstappen. If it was Verstappen still in a Toro Rosso running around in 4th for much of the race yesterday everyone would be beside themselves, but he barely got a mention during or after the race.

Must admit, if Rosbergs engine happened to blow up in the next race this will be a very sweet feeling.

Not really, if rosberg had spooned it into the pit wall in Brazil fair enough, I'd have enjoyed the schadenfreude as much as the next guy - but asking for an engine failure to nullify the title battle in the last race is weak. It might be fair but there's no fun in being fair.

If a defender in football trips up you don't stop the game and give him the ball back, you score and celebrate like you're Pele.

I would have enjoyed that much more to be honest. I think I'm still a bit bothered by Malaysia. Hearing "Oh No. No!" over the radio was a bit heartbreaking.

Getting horrible Liverpool flashbacks with Gerrard there!:( :D

Then you should be just as bothered by Lewis' start at Monza. And that was nothing to do with reliability.

I'm not trying to suggest he is infallible. But to suggest that Monza is even on a par with Malaysia is laughable. His dodgy start cost him what, 7 points? His blown engine cost him 25.

I'm far from a mathematician but had Malaysia been different the points would look much different right now.

Earlier in the season, when Lewis had his problems, he'd be able to put new engine in and even starting last still finish 2nd or 3rd. With RB's (and even Ferrari's) pace now he hasn't got that advantage. As unlucky as Lewis was with his engines failing it was at a time when Merc enjoyed much bigger advantage over other teams.

I think they both have engines that have done same amount of races/ weekends for the final race.

Has he got any engines left? I'm guessing so, so he'll have a fresh one for the race no doubt

This was pre-Brazil:

So someone feel free to correct me but Rosberg wont be using a brand new engine. (The last 2 parts should be brand new.)

Edit: The formatting looks rubbish in the post but i did spend the time spacing it... :o

maybe Williams should have used some more engines/ turned the power up a bit more - might have had a better chance against Force India :)

as for the wet tyres, why don't they make the diameter differences a little larger? atm iirc the inter is 5mm, and the wet is 10mm then the slicks? why not double this, or at least have the wet 15mm for ground clearance as that seems to be where a lot of the spins seem to be influenced by?

I may be wrong but Lewis took on three engines in Spa with the aim of doing 3 races per engine. He did Spa, Monza and Singapore on Engine 1. Engine 2 went pop in Malaysia. Lewis reverted to Engine 1 for Suzuka. From the US GP Lewis has been using Engine 3. Nico did his first race on his final ICE in Suzuka. So Abu Dhabi will be race 5 on that engine. I recall in Brazil practice his engineer told him to pit when he asked if he could do more laps. Reason was they did not want to put more mileage on the ICE.
