Forgetting the handbags, Ocon was almost level with Verstappen at the turn and perfectly within his rights to have and maintain that position. I'm honestly not sure what Ocon did wrong. There's absolutely no rule to say you can't try and overtake / unlap someone legally just because they're the leader.

If that had been positions 1 and 2 racing for the lead, Verstappen surely would have been criticised for lack of awareness / turning in.

In any case the sensible / level-headed driver would have seen the bigger picture and relinquished the position pending an easy blue flag overtake.

I'd place 90% of the blame with Mad Verstappen and can't believe Ocon got a 10 second stop and go for that.
 
Both called to stewards, any potential for post race DQs for violent conduct or would it be fines/points/next race penalty?
 
Will be interesting to see what happens with the stewards. Max shouldn't have pushed him but I totally understand the frustrations - he had his win wrapped up and Ocon basically ruined it for him. Say all you want about Ocon being 'allowed' to unlap himself, but you are also supposed to move over for the race leader - to the extent that you can be blue flagged and penalised for not moving over whereas you can't be flagged or penalised as the leader for not allowing someone to unlap themselves. Clearly one rule is more serious than the other - Ocon and Max should both be taken to task imho.
 
Whilst I think Ocon had every right to unlap himself, I don’t think that applies to the very next corner unless the leader locks up or makes a mistake!

I foresee a reprimand for Max for the handbags.

Not to defend Ocon, but your photo and comment don't correlate. Ocon is on the track, the front left is still within the white line. He's also reacting to the fact he's realised Max is coming across to the racing line expecting him to yield, so he's trying to get off the track to the right. At this point both drivers are already down the poo river, without paddles.

I doubt Horner had seen the incident by then.

Classic red bull. Really dislike their attitude. Ricciardo is best off out. I hope Honda suck next season after Horner raving about it constantly.
