Breaking Bad Season 5 - Part I

I'd never heard of this programme before i read this thread:o
now me and the missus are hooked, just started s3 its awesome :)
haven't been so addicted to a tv show since sopranos.

Anyone else listen to the official podcast?

http://www.amctv.com/shows/breaking-bad/insider-podcast-season-5 (iTunes sub link on that page, there's an RSS link floating around somewhere too)

It's the editor (Kelley Dixon) and various guests (usually including Vince Gilligan) talking about the latest episode. It's really interesting listening to them talk about how they filmed certain scenes, or why they decided on a certain part of the story.

I enjoyed episode 3, setting the scene very nicely and the cooking of the meth with the reaction sequences was pretty cool.

Sunday we will be half way through. :(

Did you not watch episode 2?

:p

I imagine he is knee deep sorting through all the stuff related to Gus and the various associates he had and business/accounts etc.

This season seems to be moving pretty quickly which is nice, I think some of the dialogue is suffering as a result though, it's mostly great but some scenes are a bit rushed.

The whole music shop bit was great apart from the obvious rubbish guitarist joke.

Can someone help me understand what Walt was trying to say to Jesse at the end regarding Viktor's death, whatever point he was trying to make went over my head :o

That maybe he didn't kill him as a message to Walt, he killed him because he got too big for his boots essentially. After what had just happened in the garage, the insinuation here being that perhaps Mike is now doing the same. In a way I can't blame him, Walt is obviously going to feel like he is the top dog now but did you see the size of his pile once everyone's cut had been taken :p.

I understood it to mean that Walt was saying some people need to be got rid off, just like Gus did to Viktor so they take a bigger slice and don't have to pay lots of people.

Especially after being ripped off by his former business partner and becoming school teacher, character development and all. I predict that this is the beginning of the end, with Jess starting to suspect that Walt is considerably more capable than he has been led to believe and Brock's reaction to him becoming more apparent.

I agree, this is almost certainly the beginning of the end for Walt. There's been a few times already that Walt has obviously disagreed with Mike but has chosen to not kick up too much of a fuss. The impression I'm getting is not that he's scared, it's that he's having to intentionally hold himself back til the time is right. I'm not so sure we'll be rooting for him by the end of the series.
