Brendan Rodgers sacked - If you're happy and you know it KLOPP your hands !!!

Well they've only conceded 3 more than you, and you have a much better keeper so I'd say you're on par with each other tbh.

what about chelsea? ( if we're using that comparison )

point is, klopp has a mammoth task and will need a shed load of cash to sort it and i can't see them attracting the required players without taking another walloping to the books and entering another 'transition' period.

can klopp be arsed?

Nail, head.

Don't get me wrong I like Klippity but he could build a Dortmund team whilst at the same time offering thereabouts guaranteed CL football. Plus Germany have and still are going through a purple patch of producing national talent which don't particularly want to leave in search of riches abroad and they were the second best club in Germany.

All of that helps hugely in building a squad and Liverpool currently cannot offer any of what Dortmund did. Great youth? Nope (perhaps bar Ibe) guaranteed CL football, certainly not, one of the best teams and payers so can keep top talent? Nope.

I don't think Liverpool are in a "bad" situation and I'm not saying the above to knock Liverpool just to highlight that Klippity had a lot going in his favour to help succeed at Dortmund that he won't have at Liverpool.

Can he do it? Yea, he could. Will he do it? It's a huge IF and I certainly wouldn't be getting carried away considering City, Arsenal are nailed on and ManU/Chelski are still relatively under performing so will improve.

Regardless will be interesting!

U do realise Dortmund weren't anywhere near the cl places when klopp was appointed? And the youth your talking about he helped identify and bring in

Currently Chelsea have an atrocious defence, worse than 'Pool and Spurs :p

yes. currently, i doubt it will be a season long problem. spurs ( i believe anyway ) are finally starting to see things click defensively. dier holding has helped but we needed a cb partnership for 3-4 yrs now and only this season do i reckon we've found a good pairing.

liverpools problems lay deeper.

Well certainly he had a number of experienced players when he took over. I think the GK and 2 CB's, Subotic,Hummels & Weidenfeller were all there before he took over. I'm sure there were a few other people as well. He signed Reus, Lewan & Gundogan.. etc. But liverpool have a few great players in place as well. He'll certainly be looking for CB when he gets in, LB? winger? Maybe Pool will sign Reus?

Check out the transcript between Efffenberg and Klopp. Yes, he can be arsed.

If you're that negative about Liverpool, you must want to top yourself when you think of Tottenham. Unless you're deluded enough to believe they're in an appreciably better place...

There not that far off, surely? They need an experienced striker, looking back, they shouldn't of sold Soldado. Soldado is on form in Spain, top of the league Villarreal are.

well we haven't got off to a bad start. the topping myself thought usually comes around mid march.

If we do get Klopp it'll be interesting to see how we line up, not least in attack given he prefers a 4-2-3-1 formation and tried to sign Benteke and Firminho for Dortmund.

He brought them both to the club, subotic was actually with him at Mainz

Ah ok, yea it might have been the LB/Rb or something. Must have heard it wrong on the radio.

Was just looking there at the main team that got beaten by Bayern.

Signed - Piszczek, Bender, Lewan, Reus, Hummels, Subotic, Gündoğan.
Already at the club - Weidenfeller, Schmelzer, Grosskreutz, Błaszczykowski, Kehl and Sahin were both important players as well during his tenure.

Well it looks like a Klopp love in so I'll stop dissenting, just surprised everyone expects it all to go so swimmingly, don't particularly care if it does or not being a Newcastle fan we are completely irrelevant in the EPL now just be interesting to see how this all unfolds.

Rodgers to Newcastle?

So it looks like it's all but done. I can honestly say of all the managers in the world, if I had a choice he'd be the one I'd go for. Yes there are managers with more impressive CV's, Ancelotti being one of them, but not many of them (certainly not in recent years) has worked at a club in our situation and built them up into a side that can challenge the very best. Your Ancelotti's, Mourinho's and Guardiola's have taken over squads full of stars and had masses of money to spend, adding the finishing touches to make them formidable sides. We haven't got a squad full of stars nor the finances to go out and buy them though - we need somebody to build a side and make them better than the sum of its parts.

Is Klopp perfect? No but of the type of manager we need, he's the stand out candidate (alongside Simeone but he's unattainable). He's shown he can build a side that can challenge anybody in Europe without all the superstars and on a fraction of the budget his rivals had. It's not too dissimilar to when we appointed Benitez from Valencia.

The way things have ended under Rodgers, the mood amongst the supporters isn't much better than it was under Hodgson and just like when Dalglish took over from him, Klopp is the type of character who'll give everybody at the club a huge lift. Hopefully this time that initial boost can be built upon.

I'm not sure everybody expects it to go swimmingly but you're not going to find many complaints from any supporter from any club in the world if they appointed Klopp, let alone a club in our position.

I know one of the Spurs supporters on here mentioned something about how Spurs were one of the top 10-15 richest clubs in the world but still just the 6th richest in their own league. We're only in a slightly better position. We've got to compete with 4 clubs with greater resources than us and it's going to be a huge challenge for any manager - it looks like we've got a manager though that has shown he's capable of upsetting the odds and being able to build sides that perform well above where they're expected too.

Rodgers statement was nice :) Here's hoping the best for him and he finds his way again

Be a bit embarrassing now if we didn't get klopp lol

I know we're only 10 or so games in but Sturridge and Benteke have managed a whole 45 minutes together so I don't see that being a huge issue.

As well as the Benteke/Firmino links, we've got the basis of a side that fits into his way of playing. We've got fullbacks that have the energy to get up and down the pitch, pressing the opposition high and early. In Henderson and Milner we've got midfielders who's entire game is built around their energy and ability to get about the pitch pressing the opposition.

The 3 behind the front is where the major question mark is for me. I wouldn't be surprise if we see Coutinho central, with Firmino to one side but pushed high up the pitch and then 1 of Henderson or Milner narrow on the other side (then the other + Lucas/Can in midfield). I saw a clip on youtube showing how Dortmund would often squeeze the play in one side of the pitch to create space on the opposite flank for the fullbacks to get forward into.

I'd get Coutinho and Sturridge working off Benteke. Narrow 3 up front as you will. That would creat space for your full backs. Just depends whether he trusts your current full backs to get up and down well enough. Not sure about your middle 3. Hendo, Can, Milner?
