BRINK

Very average. Don't get me wrong I really wanted this to be good and to keep us going untill you know what; still not cast out the baby with the water yet though so to speak. I will give it a couple of weeks, maybe.
A couple of shots all settings medium.

I get 120 fps on my gtx 480 @ 1680x1050

are you running the 11.5a hotfix driver for ATi ? There have been issues posted on some forums using certain ati cards.

I read the hotfix drivers aren't working very well, but yeah the ATI cards performance in this game has not been great lots of people are having issues with FPS or/and "grid" lines appearing on the screen as well as texture popins and other stuff.

It seems that the US review sites, including 1UP and Giant Bomb (the two sites that slated Brink the most), had an unfinished version of the code that required a sizable patch. Now they have the current version of the game it'll be interesting to see how many re-review the game accordingly. Ars Technica (I never heard of them either) went from 'Don't buy this game' to 'Brink for PC: runs great, plays well online, is a ton of fun'. The plot thickens!

A great point from the review. It's why RTCW and ET was my favourite online game of all time. Once the simpletons got bored of it you were left with a good group of gamers interested in team work: engineer, medic and lieutenant were all critical for success. Be a one man army and you were dead. Teamwork is an alien concept for many. The introduction of perks and other things has turned first person shooter into an insular first person spammer.

Changing from the standard expected fare of most FPS games that focus on the individual, to a game that requires teamwork took me a day and a certain amount of grumbling.

Then I took a step back, to the days when as a member of a gaming clan I worked with my team mates to accomplish an objective. Good times, fierce battles and friendships which have persisted for over a decade were the result of this team work, as well as the sense of having my friends back me up and backing them up in return.

Team fortress, Q3F, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars and in more modern times L4D and L4D2 are all games which require teamwork, yet Brink takes this one step further.

I find it shocking that none of the PC reviews mention that the game is unplayable for a very large number of people with ATI cards (even with driver updates etc.). It isn't hidden information exaclty and makes the game not worth purchasing in its current state if you happen to have that make of card.

Link? I have a 5870.

First five paragraphs I agree with whole heartedly, didn't really read the rest. :p
Yeah, it really is a little overwhelming. I for one am not used to this many varied objectives, all over the map at once. It really does need time learning the maps and what the objectives do and a little bit of the game mechanics. e.t.c. e.t.c.
After 5-6 hours play now and I am just, and I mean only just, getting an idea of what the hell we are meant to be doing; apart from shooting the bad guys.
*Edit. Oh and the ATI hotfix did nothing for my FPS b.t.w..
