3 Weeks till Christmas stand down \o/.

Shame I'm in the process of organising a join sqn Christmas Function, good god what a headache!

\o/

Had a Bty function last night, Formal dinner night, it got messy near the end as usual, suffered today!!!
still got 3 do's to go before we thin out for xmas.
Bty do, Regi do and the JNCO Ball, the last week before stand down is gonna be messy and expensive!!!!

Good god, that's a lot of functions! We're having 1, which is on my birthday coincidentally, and I'm organising it. I didn't even start the whole organising, I just was helping collect money for my squadron, but somehow, the entire thing has ended on my shoulders! Good for SJAR of course, but to be honest, I'm not bothered about that lol.

You need to get some time in.

Not long now till I go home :D

It's freezing out here now!

You up in the Northern area? Just looking at weather reports, Lash is only 2 degrees warmer than Germany at the moment. 14c at the end of November in Germany, something isn't right lol.

Has anyone spent any time or visted Gütersloh garrison in Germany?

Also has anyone used the companies that sell cars to forces tax and vat free if in germany?

Personally I haven't, but know quite a few that have. I've always preferred to get all the paperwork squared away myself, rather than relying on someone else, and paying them a fee for the pleasure.

I didn't even know you could do the application online?! Was it the full application or application for information? I personally did everything in an AFCO as it made life a lot easier as you'll start dealing with just one person who will keep you all updated.
The first test you'll be loaded onto will be your BARB test. You'll get a booklet about this regarding the exam involves, you're usually given this in the AFCO when you've completed your application.

I applied online early september and luckily caught the recruitment guy a week before he came over to Jersey and arranged an interview, as long as I had done the online app he said.

When I got there the BARB Machine didn't work and they couldn't find my online application, so was told to fill out a hard copy and send it in which I did early Oct. When I got home found I couldn't login to the website and a couple of weeks later got an auto email saying they received my online app, technical issues :(

Biggest issue is I was told they will more than likely not be coming back to Jersey for recruitment and I'd have to fly over multiple times for something that takes you guys under an hour. If only I decided to join ANY time but my luck, hah. I really want to join though, even if it means having to spend £100s on flights and other expenses.

That's a pain. You could potentially ask if you're able to do a telephone interview if that'd save at least one or two trips over. With the BARB I see no other way around than flying over, unless they do come back.

If anything, at least it's setting the tone for a potential career in the Army lol.

Ok, so I've submitted my application for Engineer Officer in the RAF. Any ideas when I'm likely to get an interview? Would I be waiting until the new year, or is it likely to be sooner?

Officer?

What's an Officer?

Seriously though, no idea, I doubt anyone will be able to say for sure.

Most camps have been told they're getting extra time off to make up for the Olympics fiasco. I haven't heard anything about trying to cut down on heating bills...

Most RAF camps have been told to use the same "optional" Block Leave (i.e the extra days are still taken out of your annual allowance, so most people aren't doing it) except for operational requirements from what I've heard.

I've heard a rumor floating around here, that there talking about closing up on the 14th.

Nice one, if its optional leave then I'll happily just not take that :p

Though I still have 48 days to take before April! I've got a course running from Jan - April. Erm.............
