**British Armed Forces Discussion Thread**

I've heard a rumor floating around here, that there talking about closing up on the 14th.

Nice one, if its optional leave then I'll happily just not take that :p

Though I still have 48 days to take before April! I've got a course running from Jan - April. Erm.............

Grr... *cough* admin nightmare... grr, jack *******... grumble grumble.

:p

Hmmm we have all been given an extra 6days onto our jpa leave balance to cover a few extra days as the camp is getting closed over xmas. Although I am on call over xmas then at work over new year, for the 3rd year running haha.

Grr... *cough* I'm deployed until next year... grr, suck it up sunshine... *grumble grumble*.

Haha that was me last year, although was in the Falklands so not really deployed and was at work the year before over New Year too.

I am in no way complaining in the slightest, hence the haha at the end, I don't really mind it's only a date in the year that can be celebrated anytime.

I've put my leave in from the 12th, avoid the rush on the 14th, still leaves me with 24 days to take after I get back, and there is no hope in hells chance I'm going to be able to take that lol.

This is the first time I was ever going to get any where near using my days but now I have been given 10 days back due to duties, I might manage to get them in the new year hopefully, although there is already planned dets.

Just tongue in cheek banter my friend, no need to explain to me :p

We were granted an extra week on JPA our unit are stood down on those dates, Except for the standard Xmas rear party, we were told months ago we'd be getting an extra week due to OP Olympics, but as always it was a case of i'll believe it when i see it, but right enough we got it, however there was no flexibility with the additional days they had to be taken on the stated dates, not that i have any choice anyway seeing as i'm on course starting 7th jan.

still got 2 days to take i think i'll use them strategically over the next 2 weeks!

I just wanted to iterate that I am not/wasn't complaining :D

I have no idea on why just had a message on the announcements section saying the station commander had authorized 6 extra days, maybe it is from the op Olympics thing though.

I just keep sticking in applications when I know I am not going to get leave so I have loads of rejected for service reasons tickets, so I can use them to gen app to keep them and carry them over.

Were a small section. So we check if its ok, before putting in leave.

That and I'm pretty much having every second Friday off I've not had much point in leave.

Haha, I know. An out of area and a shed load of courses has made taking leave nearly impossible!

Get it in writing in email to your command chain and CC it to their boss or your section CO explaining the legitimate reason why you can't take them all and usually they can push to carry more than 15 days over. Admin could in fact just regard some of your leave as PODL which is carried over regardless. The rest could be carried, up to 25 days I think (rather than the standard 15).

I'm sure you already know all this but hey, just in case you, or any one else didn't.

Yeah our boss is sorting it out.

That 48 includes my podl, plus the 15 I can normally carry over.

So really leaving me with 25 days or so, taking another 10 over would be great though. As we should be back up to full man power making leave easier to take too.

Thanks though, need to get it sorted this week!

Congrats.

On the leave question. Don't forget that Easter is in March this year. So your Easter leave will come off this years allowance. Giving you a better chance to get some in before the cut off.

I'm carrying 15 days over to next year and I still have 5 days relocation leave on my JPA with no run out date.
Couple that 20 days with next years leave, 35 days resettlement and 20 days termination leave. I could be out by early October and still be paid till March :)

Yea has gone quick for me really. Been a blur but a good experience. Just hope I enjoy the field army once out of phase 2.

I'm sure you will. You'll look back with fond memories of Phase 1, but ultimately it's crap compared to the real army.
Congrats though dude :).
