**British Armed Forces Discussion Thread**

I'd potentially post your question on Arrse which is an unofficial military forum for the UK. I'd imagine you should be able to get more answers there with a wider range of people.

It can be a crappy forum sometimes, and depending on where posted, not very welcoming, but it can also offer some advice off people who may have a better idea of someone he can speak to, as by the sounds of it, it's not being handled well at the moment at all.

Falklands is great . I was there this year. From dec 14 to april 15.

Just smashed the gym and got into a nice routine.

Wouldnt mind going again to be honest.

Anyone heard any figures on pay from this NEM? I have a feeling they are just keeping quiet to stop early PVRs lol .

Premature Voluntary Release.

IE. Your notice that you are leaving the forces.

It was 6 months before but now 12 for us. If you have a job lined up then you can probably get out earlier but by the book its 12 month.

Holding on to people who dont wanna be there. Its kinda stupid because you will never get good performance from them.

I agree people will just start becoming problematic. Especially for people whom are not deployed it simply does not make sense keeping them for 12 months.

I know from experience. Once the PVR is in, people just give a big **** you to the military then just do whatever they please at work, I dont blame em because some of the hoops you need to jump through to get out are stupid.

AH signing off!:D
Always been 12 months for us, although, early release, if proof of job/further education acceptance is available, is very possible on case by case basis, could be out as little as 3 months in some cases.

Yeah thats pretty much the way things are for us, but they will tell us the 12 month figure to keep people in fear haha.

I think if you have another job offer it comes down to some kinda european law. They cant stop you going elsewhere without a potential law suit on their hands.

They can stop you, seen it done many times, don't believe the Barrack Room lawyers!

Off to the FI on January the 11th. Hopefully that date doesn't change as i've sorted out my plans for Christmas! :) . The Falklands get a lot of bad press. Just keep busy and it's fine. Plenty to see and do, and there's always 4/6 months to smash the gym! Though i've heard it's hard to smuggle in alcohol from Stanley now! I need to come up with another little racket for this tour!
