**British Armed Forces Discussion Thread**

Bahhahahaha

I work with him, he gets endlessly ribbed about this and has done since we discovered the vid about 12 months ago.

Poor lad, his sister made it cos she was proud of him and now he just gets **** constantly, still pretty funny though. Might go and link him to this now actually!

Yeah that's what the gf and I said; his family are clearly really proud of him and he's lucky to have a family like that... But good lord, have they created something in that video there!! Poor lad hahaha

To be fair to him he's laughed the whole thing off, he's been wound up constantly for months and just has a laugh about it too, I would have snapped with some of the flak he's been getting.

Still, its reminded me to go and rip him a bit more, that's what 12 hour night shifts are for!

What you in? Answered my own question checking your profile :)

How often do you guys go out there and for how long?

It depends, on what rank you are. In addition to what job you do.

I can expect to come here around once every 3 years or so! Most of the slots here are for 4 months at a time, with a small contingent staying a bit longer to do 6 months.

Only 10 days or so to go! The weather is getting pretty dreadful here now! Though i'm thankful i'm not at one of the mountain sites. Looking forward to a decent pint back in the UK! :)

Nice! I imagine you'll have a good bit of leave saved up for when you're back.

Around 7-8 weeks into my Falkland Islands stint. The drinking culture has calmed right down! a lot less of the post-drink fighting at chucking out time at the Gull and flick-knife too! Hoping to get some visits done before the weather turns in the coming weeks / months

Have you been to see the Gentoo penguins along the beach from Mare Harbour yet? And for R&R I can recommend Saunders Island which has a colony of Elephant seals and some really great walking.

Yes! Went to Berthers beach several times, always a pleasure to visit. didn't manage to make it to Saunders this time around. However, i made it to volunteer point which was a really good trip! :)

I see the coroner has ruled that Private Cheryl James death was suicide.

I really cannot understand the Deepcut cases at all. I don't know how someone found with four close range gunshot wounds and someone else with two gunshot wounds to the head can be deemed as suicide.

Can anyone explain what I am missing please, because this just seems too unbelievable for me.

Couldn't say, not in the court case. L85 can fire 10 rounds a second though, if two of them had the rifle on repetition maybe that accounts for the multiple hits on two of the four (?) suicides in that decade.

I'd say that 3 of the 4 deaths being guard duty related would be the more suspicious thing. I mean guard's rubbish but not that rubbish.
