British Grand Prix 2010, Silverstone Circuit - Race 10/19

racecraft stilll involves the correct outright pace in any given situation / phase of the race:)

This argument is kinda pointless as it's over semantics, but hey:

Racecraft involves the correct use of *pace*, in order to conserve tyres, maintain gaps etc etc

Outright Pace is using everything the car and tyre have to give, either to set a hot qualifying lap, or in a race situation to chase down the gap to the car ahead.

Hamilton, showing again that the McLaren's race pace isn't anywhere near as far from RB's pace as it is in qualifying

Actually I think it is. Red Bull are just managing the car during the race, no need to over stress components when they know they can easily maintain a heathly gap for pitstops.

Hamilton drove a great race but I think Webber flattered the Mclarens pace by racing well off the speed they can achieve.

Half decent race that. Much better than I was expecting. Well done to Mark, LOL @ Vettel who only got back as high as he did thanks to the safety car intervening, LOL @ Alonso who must be utterly furious right now, and LOL @ those who say Button doesn't have it in him to go out and make positions on-track.

I missed the first six or so laps (bit busy dent-pulling and wasn't watching the clock:(), so I didn't see what happened to Vettel at T1. I can only assume since they seemed to be blaming Hamilton that Hamilton actually had nothing to do with it at all? The only replay I've seen of it so far didn't seem all that conclusive either way.

Hamilton was a bit caught out by the red bulls almost stopping on turn 1 and almost ran into the back of webber and as vettel pulled across there was the faintest of brushes. nothing sinister.

although it would have been nice if in the press conference lewis said 'i understood vettel was having trouble picking a front wing so i decided to give him mine'.

Was a nice race i thought but shame about the safey car which got vettel back into the points, Mclaren's had a really good weekend i thought after having friday as a test day to see how the new upgrades worked so having one practice to work on the setup and having both cars come home in 2nd and 4th was a brilliant result i thought.

Surprisingly, no rant from Alonso. He accepts his penalty. Good, he was the one in the wrong.

BBC team really don't seem to agree, judging by what DC just said. Ah well. So much for the stewards being out to help Ferrari at all costs eh?* :)

FWIW, I think he did gain an advantage and should have given the place straight back, so I can see exactly where the stewards were coming from. He had a chance to sort it before the safety car came out.

Without going back and reading the rest of the topic...

Can not complain at this result really. Christian sounded pretty downbeat that the "wrong man" won over the radio. Hopefully Webber can do more of this over the year. :)
Wasn't too bad watching Vettel in the last few laps though.

As an Alonso fan, I was pleading to the TV for him to let Kubica back through. You just knew it would end poorly. It ended poorer than I could have imagined, especially given the pace he had.
I believe he was "doing a Hamilton" and seeing how long they'd take to make the decision, gambling he'd be far enough ahead of the pig slow Kubica. It was a horrid result but... He put himself in that position.

The slow teams... Jesus, someone get rid of all of them now please. I'd rather they weren't there getting in the way. Can't remember what stage of the race it was, possibly just after safety car but there was a Lotus getting in the way of pretty much everyone.
I'm all for having more teams in F1, I'd rather they were remotely on the pace though. I'm sure Minardi even put up better fights than this. :(

Yet another good result from a 14th place grid slot for Button, was good to see those moves at the start :)
