British Grand Prix 2011, Silverstone Circuit - Race 9/19

Do we have any information on Buttons fuel load? I can't imagine it would have been that different to Hamiltons so he may well have ended up in fuel save mode too come the end of the race?

In the button interview on the BBC page he says his fuel was ok due to his lack of pace earlier on...

Trouble is you don't know whats going to happen, so how can you say it's ok if he wins by a couple of points.

There's only one issue and that was Horner squirming. Rather than saying what he finally managed to say, wen used orders for the benefit of the team.

Seems like usual we missed lots of on track action like normal.
Would it actually be worth delaying transmission by a couple of minutes so director has more time to choose shots.

I just remembered something. Anyone else notice that the Red Bulls seemed to gain little to no advantage from DRS compared to other cars?

Could have something to do with the RB being up to 15Km/h slower then Hamilton at least in a straight line (according to the speed trap data), im sure DRS gives way more benefit then that but its still a deficit of speed and distance which has to be made up, and the corner before the DRS was one RB struggled with too so they had an even bigger gap to make up to the car infront

Yeah, there speed is made up in the corners not the straights.

Was just the first time we have really seen them chasing people and using DRS, and they just seemed to really struggle, while others were sailing by. Clearly their car is designed to be out in front, not following people :)

Did anyone notice and rapper/singer/actors in the mclaren this weekend?

I didn't and Hamilton puts in a great performance.

2 times he crashes they are all over the place.

If buttons wheel would have been put on properly I think mclaren would have also used team orders to keep him behind Hamilton. As he said in his interview "there's no way I was giving up 4th"

Goldie was there.

hes overrated though so maybe hamilton doesnt get effected by him :p

back in the 90s when goldie could be considered to be at his peak he was never anywhere near one of the top jungle/Drum & Bass DJs

hes what a z list celeb a lot of people didnt even know who he was on other forums where as at canada everyone knows rhianna and most people know ICE T

ok guys, me and the old man have worked out where the rbr cars have so much more downforce than the others.......its so simple but a lot of work will nee to be done.

ok, just look at the rear of the cars, look how much thiner the redbull is comepared to mclaren and the ferrari.

here are a few images to help you understand, just look at the amount of space there is at the front of the rear wheels, just emagine the amount of air moving through that space and then pushing down onto that rear wing and on top of the defuser. it makes you think why haven't the others done somthing simular.

just look carefully at the gap between the 'side-pods' and the tyres. thats where i reccon the downforce is produced.

RBR are always bleating on about how good their "packaging" is and that Newey didn't want to compromise it for KERS. So yes, I think the one of the secrets to the Red Bull car is in the simple design of its shape, proportions etc.

Theres more to it than that, but it is a good point.

There is the need to get the most amount of airflow possible around certain aspects, and then to do the best job with that airflow when it is there (its why McLaren have L shaped side pods).

I think RBR have got both right. However, as NathanE has said, the design might be small, but its not without its issues in relation to KERS etc.

The Williams has an exceptionally low gearbox meaning their back end is all very low down, with their suspension struts at angles much more severe than other teams. I don't know about it being smaller, but its definitely flatter.
