That was incredibly violent, Zhou's car had so little contact patch with being upside down it just didnt have any chance to scrub speed.
Gasley went for a space hat was rapidly reducing, he took a chance it didnt pay off. At the same time Russell had a terrible start, got done on the inside and saw it about to happen again and decided to close the gap, he was a bit slow in doing so unfortunately.
Racing incident in my opinion, however Russell needs to be driving smarter than that, thats something I expect of the rear of the grid pay drivers. Just messy from both. Russell just seems like he's not been driving his best all weekend, pressure of the home GP?

Doesn't red flag usually mean they take times/positions from the end of the last full racing lap?

It always used to be like that "back in the day" with a first lap crash - they used to basically bin the first lap and start a new race with 1 lap less.
Always used to treat a 1st lap incident as different to a red flag further into a race.

The fia negotiated grid positions with a team last year, can't complain when they now follow the rules.
