Broken spark plug :(

car was standard
then tuned by the tuner of doom
car was stolen
then found
cars burning a lot of oil
it goes up for sale, not mentioning oil burning
valve stem seals said to have been replaced
car doesnt sell
valve stem seals turn out not to have been done
engine gets de-tuned
spark plug fails
car never burns oil

its a long un for sure...

Of course its him.

But can someone just explain this to me.

If TMS guarantee parts and labour surely this is down to them?

What do they need to diagnose, the tip of the spark plug has fell off and possibly mashed his engine, whats to discuss?

Either they are going to rectify the problem or not, all that bring it down and we will see just sounds like a case of when we see, if its cheap we will do it, if not we wont.

another point, Mark, he had the car "returned to standard" but TMS didnt remove the plugs and put originals back in... and then it was the existing plug that failed. can only fall on TMS lap tbh

Im not at all mechanically minded, but i would say it must be down to them, otherwise whats the point of a guarantee.

i dont envy his position though but one thing that has to be on his side is that he has had work carried out by them, got the guarantee for it, but hasnt made other alterations on top of it which doesnt leave them with a lot to pick on.

hopefully it all irons out nicely

(awaits thread titled "why wont people buy a car with a brand new engine?")

Mark you're thinking logically, don't forget we are dealing with TMS, odds are they will argue Princey has done something to the car during that period and thats why its broken.

The more i hear about them the less i like them, id make a bit of work out of that man and hound him till it was resolved if it were me, i do hate a **** taker.

These people thrive on people taking the easy way as Princey has, get it done local for least bother etc.

They already said that I should have checked the plugs tightness when they replied to my email but my argument was that should have be checked when it was put back to standard. I had a ticking noise which TMS put down the a blowing manifold gasket but I guess that was the lose plug.

How is it down to you to check anything, what the **** are you paying them for?

If a computer company left a loose heatsink on a CPU and it overheated and died would they say "You should have checked it"? If someone came around to fix your roof then it caved in because it hadn't been nailed together properly would they be able to say "You should have checked the nails"?

When you pay someone to do something you expect a professional job, not one that needs checking by someone who may not even have a clue about engines/CPUs/roofs.

This is certainly a recurring theme for Thorney Motorsport threads though. I hope they don't try and sue Spie for me saying that.

lol i wouldnt even know how to check your spark plugs are tighenned correctly.

So you heard it here first folks, you can only have your car tuned by thorney, if you pass the enterance exam that prooves you can check everything they do on the car ...

wait a minute, what do you mean there isnt an exam ........

You're making an awful lot of sense there...

Iv never checked a spark plug in 27 years of driving, that ***** want a dig.

ive inspected a plug after it was removed for me by the garage in a spark plug change but i mean i didnt open 'er up and check that the news ones were installed properly!

"i took the car to you because im not a mechanic. your purpose in this agreement was to tune my car and service it. i paid you for that service because i cant do it myself. you purport to be experts in this field, hence i took it to you...." shouldnt have to go much further than that

in short. why bark if youve got a dog?

Listen i open the bonnet to put screen wash in and check my oil, thats it end of, if i wanted to get grubby hands i'd be a mechanic not pay one.

That company is a farce.

I'd love him to sue me. Soon see who got sick of wasting money first then.
