8 pins can actually handle about 234 watts each not the 150watts, this was just a standard creates by nvidia. So in total 4 8 pins is closer to 1000 wattsThe fact the FE comes with a 4 x 8 pin adaptor would lead you to believe it has a 600w limit as that is overkill for 450w alone ... i do think it will be able to be adjusted but not to 600w ( + 33.4% ) more like 504w ( +12% ) although the FE 3090Ti is hard locked to 450w afaik and can't be adjusted where as the 3090 FE can be adjusted for 350W to 400W in afterburner so will have to wait and see what we can actually do with the FE when reviews are out next week hopefully .
That's why Corsair released new GPU power cable for their existing PSUs, that can provide 600W on PCI-ex 5 power plug but on the side of the PSU it uses only 2x8 pin plugs.8 pins can actually handle about 234 watts each not the 150watts, this was just a standard creates by nvidia. Seems soMan its super disappointing that most skus will be over £2000. The absolute top end could *maybe* deserve a £300 premium but even that is a lot.
Is Nvidia selling the FE on their shop this time round?
I get where you're coming from, but that is so much money, the fact that the base amount is so high is making that look like "only a little extra"... It's astounding. The absolute top end could *maybe* deserve a £300 premium but even that is a lot.
3070 should be mid range so the gimped 4080 is basically the mid range card.i dont blame nvidia milking the high end as tbh that those that are buying have the cash to splash. be interested to see the mid range prices, and obviously the high end price cut when it arrives in time

Not a dig at you at all, more the numbers just getting so out of hand.
The connector on psu side is rated for 366W.That's why Corsair released new GPU power cable for their existing PSUs, that can provide 600W on PCI-ex 5 power plug but on the side of the PSU it uses only 2x8 pin plugs.
What Corsair's website suggest, in their PSUs it depends on the PSU's wattage - different ones have different ratings. Cable itself will work with any Type-4 PSU, but PSU has to be (which is quite obvious) strong enough to power the 600W GPU and the rest of the components. If I remember correctly it's 1200W min. for the 600W provided to the GPU. For 750W it's 300W max and for 1000W it's 450W on PCIe side max.The connector on psu side is rated for 366W.
I wonder how much for 4090Ti... £3k?3070 should be mid range so the gimped 4080 is basically the mid range card.
There will be a 4090ti almost 100% the 4090 wont be "high end"
its all relative. you own a 3090FE. I'm sure some people would find the price and reasoning for you getting a 3090FE is mad just as you have thoughts on 4090 prospective buyers being mad.I bet you if somebody turned it down without you knowing, you wouldn't notice. But you would notice the smoother gameplay.
Eye candy is nice, but its such diminishing returns. And once your actually playing the game, not stopping to oohhh and ahh, you barely notice. You do notice hiccups or low framerate far more often.
£2k+ just to avoid turning a setting or 2 down is mad to me.
OCUK are neither friend or foe in this really and it remains to be seen if they keep their word about the top end cards hitting 2k if the pound recovers by oct 12.Yeah I get you. I honestly feel a bit let down by OCUK given what they were saying if the exchange rate recovered. We will see what other shops charge and if its no where near as much they will have lost my custom... for what it's worth lol.
I may be wrong, and gosh, I do want a lower price, but isn't the price set on the exchange rate when OCUK buy the stock?OCUK are neither friend or foe in this really and it remains to be seen if they keep their word about the top end cards hitting 2k if the pound recovers by oct 12.
This is the price OCUK will base the prices on no doubt irrespective on when they actually bought the stock. Less than a week to go though to know for sure!I may be wrong, and gosh, I do want a lower price, but isn't the price set on the exchange rate when OCUK buy the stock?
And Id never have bought a 3090 class card, where it not for the crazy prices that CeX offered for 3080sits all relative. you own a 3090FE. I'm sure some people would find the price and reasoning for you getting a 3090FE is mad just as you have thoughts on 4090 prospective buyers being mad.
