Bruce Lee vs....

and yes it is true Bruce could fly, and teleport himself.

YAY!!!! This thread has gone to a new level with that statement..

Just checked back on this thread and I see the name Jackie Chan!!! Claims Chan could have held his own against Bruce Lee are pretty ridiculous.

People are saying this thread is all pure speculation, that maybe so but those on here who do have actual insight into Bruce Lee, MMA and martial arts can make informed speculation and it makes for interesting discussion.

It seems the most balanced opinions are coming from those who understand Martial Arts. Those who are totally for or totally against Lee don't sound fully informed to be honest.

I have trained with a couple of Bruce Lee's students who gave real insight into the man. I don't believe this is all hyping their master up either, these guys were training with him long before he was famous and you can hear the inspiration in their voice some 30 years later.

Lee was a pioneer, his influenece on the Martial Arts world has been huge, he shook up the traditions and sorted out what was real from what was fantasy. Years later MMA has taken Lee's concepts and turned them into a sport.

What Bruce was trying to do was find the "Truth" in combat something on a higher level than we see from those training to simply compete in a ring or Octogon today.

Chan is nothing compared with Lee

have u seen jackie's earlier works, Snake in the Eagle's shadow, drunken master, snake and crane etc. if not u NEED to see these films. i was a lee fan and then i finally saw chan's movies and i was in awe of chan.

jackie had a tougher frame than lee ever did, and i dont think that lee would win 10 rounds out of 10 if they fought.

But what have the fancy choreographed movements in those films got to do with real combat....absoloutly nothing at all.

Chan grew up in the Chinese opera doing stunts and acrobatics Bruce Lee grew up on the streets of Hong Kong and was a scrapper.

Some good footage: HERE

Gracie was a world class MMA fighter (one of the greats) Bruce Lee has no record at all as a pro fighter, a few exibition bouts here and there and movie star buddys etc, does not make him a World class fighter
this thread is about could Lee take on Fedor Emelianenko

Here comes my 2p.

I think this quote is the most telling of all, Gracie was a genius, he came along with BJJ and kicked ass, no-one could touch him. Then people decided they needed to find out how to kick his arse and promptly did. Now if gracie stepped into the ring he would get his butt kicked. This was a guy who reigned at the top for a couple of years who is now, comparitively a nobody.

Lee would not have won, inside the ring or outside. If you watch more than just the highlights you will see what a amasing technical fighter Fedor is. He is VERY fast, amazingly so for his speed, he can manouver out of almost any position. People say his skill is to get you on ground and pound, he is a very good boxer, he does use wide swinging punches but he uses them very effectively. He is not fighting muppets in that video, these are seriously good fighters. He can also take a beating, you don't get in the ring with these guys if you can't, the highlights don't show you that ... for the guy who said he looked tired they are 10min 10min 5min, these arn't 3 minute boxing rounds!

Lee wouldn't have won, he was an amasing athlete and an amasing fighter i admit but he wouldn't have beaten Fedor. end

i agree with the sentiment from rancid. especially if thos fedor has systema training!

but what i would say is, choose those from Lee's weight category, or even the one up and given similar training etc i think he could have come out on top.

Same as Bruce Lee and his 'fighting' in films. ;)

Do you even know what the 'Opera' he did entailed? If you think that its 'Opera' in the sence of what we have over here, then your vastly mistaken.

best post yet and perfectly true.

You've taken that out of context the poster was saying how good Jackie Chan was at fighting because of what he did in his movies. I have never used anything Bruce Lee did in his movies to prove his fighting skill.

Well I'm not vastly mistaken, I know exactly the mix of music, acrobatics, martial arts, feats of skill and strength that are displayed by a Chinese Opera troop, I have seen them with my own eyes.
