BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

i'm still stuck in the stone age, apparently I'm on the build plan of between now until Dec 2026

I say stone age, 60meg is better than the 7meg back on copper, which incidentally I was crying about being in the stone age back then.

Need some help holding Openreach’s hand to guide them through what I hope is a simple process. I’ve got FTTP (currently with Sky) and have had for the past year and a half. Openreach say I don’t and have sent four engineers round, each of whom have confirmed that I do have FTTP. For whatever reason, Openreach still insist there’s no install in the house! What do I need to tell the fifth engineer to do to get Openreach to update their records? Cause the engineers don’t have a clue…

Escalate it either via your ISP or you can do it to Openreach directly.

You'll need to setup PPPoE authentication on the Deco. BT don't care what username and password you use as long as there is a username and password. Once that's done you should be up and running.

Got all setup a few days ago, had a slight issue with username and password as it wouldn't connect with my own SSID and password for some reason but worked first time when i used the default SSID and password that BT gave me on the hub (not sure why) even though i'm using PPPOE. So in the end i had to reconfigure all my devices to connect to the network which was abit time consuming. Are there any advantages of using PPPOE over Dynamic IP which was the default on the Deco App?

Speed is on point though, bang on the dot and over depending on the time of the day it seems.

Anyone had any experience with Shell? They currently have 900/100 at £45.99, with £175 voucher, 6 months credit and £93.50 cashback.

Aquiss order sat pending :D just had a call off OpenReach saying they'd "fixed my internet issues" and that the ONT would probably just need a reboot. Guessing the Aquiss connection will be alive soon enough, as it's already showing my static IP, username and password, and partial circuit information in the customer portal.

I've got a Deco mesh system and looks like an easy enough switch from Dynamic IP over to PPPoE.

What makes Aquiss so good? compared to BT, I got my 900/110 package back in Nov 2021 @ £40pm (deal) then they upped it to £50pm in March 2022, Now it's currently @£57pm! So I'm looking to move!
I'm sat on FTTP Openreach and FTTP CityFiber area.

I’m having a terrible time transferring to Aquiss BUT it’s not the fault of Aquiss and their support has been fantastic. I just wish my transfer would be processed so I could start paying them :D

EDIT: Someone must’ve been listening. That’s my Aquiss connection up and running

Hi - i recently received an email from Openreach to say my property has been added to the build programme ultrafast full fibre - which is great cos my current connection is not great.

I have noticed a lot of work going on installing new cables and large green junction boxes in the local area over the last couple of months.

my question is, what’s a guesstimate from this installation work to full fibre being avail to order ? - the email from openreach they are just in the planning stage for my area.

thanks in advance

Phil

It would depend on any issues that arise during the build I'd guess , Mine took 4 months.
