BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Same here, mine was march, and now it is saying june :/

Very Strange that everyone has moved to June 30th now ? also seems that every date given is the last day of each month ,which is kind of strange or maybe not ha! ? I think if it don,t go live by May come the week before the 30th June it will change to 30th September and so it goes on ha!

Ive just checked the spreadsheet and to be honest I'm not sure what I'm looking at. Are these figures good?

I have a date of June 01st

Percent Lines 100%
Uplift 20.23
Phase 8a
Deployed YES

KIA will put you right in a while , he seems to know all about B.T :) oh and i just asked my brother who worked for B.T he said his mate who still works for them told him there putting fibre cables in at a crazy level ! overtime coming out of there ears :) so thats a good sign :)

Just to let you know my status with regards to FTTC:-

New cabinet appeared end of October 2011, the BT checker during last year stated availability would be 31st Dec 2011, then changed March 31st 2012, then recently changed to 30th June 2012. Very disappointed with this delay, however my exchange EMWILLO is now accepting orders & my mate who lives closer to the exchange than I do has been able to place his order & is due to be live on 30th March after his installation completes, so all is not lost.

Just annoyed that my gamble of switching to BT option 3 (so I get free upgrade to BT infinity) in November last year hasn't paid off as I'm still waiting for my cabinet to go live.

Can someone tell me that if the cabinet is in place & the new tarmac has been laid, all I'm waiting for is the power to be switched on, has that already been connected up & it literally is a flick of a switch inside the cabinet?

6 years of 2.3Meg connection will soon hopefully be 69.6Meg, if all goes according to plan.

My postcode is DE21 2SQ and Im assuming I'm connected to the cabinet that is about 400m away, but unsure if this is P44 or P51, from the Dec spreadsheet, as I really don't know where the other one is. No number is painted on the old cabinet next to the new one.

Alan.

Im getting a bit annoyed about the lack of information and progress with FTTP, being in a mixed FTTC/P area there's a few cabs around but no sign of any FTTP work and the checker is useless.

Is anyone else waiting on FTTP in a mixed area and seen any progress?

I get the feeling we're being left until last. :(

I don't think it's wrong of a large telecomms company to post estimated completion dates. Dates always slip, no matter what the industry. At least they are letting you know that your exchange is planned.

They are not estimated completition dates. They are random dates based on absolutely nothing - which is why they always move 3 months, every 3 months.

They aren't 'random dates' at all, don't talk rubbish. The rollout is based in phases (which are listed in the document) and the dates are rough estimates as to when they expect to have that area ready. As with every large scale venture, stuff gets postponed or re prioritised as they go along according to various factors. The spreadsheet only gets updated quarterly so if your area has been delayed, the estimate moves. If that moves 4 times in a row, they do it for a reason. There are tons of postcodes listed as Dec 2012 or even not at all, purely because they are so far away in the phase schedule that is literally the best estimate they could make.

They aren't going to flat out lie to their own wholesale customers. Just because your area has been delayed repeatedly doesn't mean BT are some ultra group of nefarious conmen.

TBH mate you have spammed the forum to create thread after thread when all you could have done is create one and ask all your questions then - and you would not have wound so many people up.

Your question has already been answered loads of times already - infact i dont know why people are surprised its going back - BT have been doing this ever since FTTC started rolling out.

It going back 3 months at a time means that BT plans to upgrade your cab but hasn't done so yet. This has been happening for the last 18 months for me.

For all those that are wondering why - firstly you need to physically see if a fibre cabinet has been placed close to your PCP cab - and if it has, just wait until it is upgraded - however long that may be.

Only when the BT checker gives you a specific date and not an end of quarter date are you ready to order FTTC.

Went to cancel BT Infinity Option 2 here, came to the end of 18 months contract.

Price reduced to £17.25 a month for a new 12 month contract on same package.

Should try it guys.

Thats a good result - did they mention anything about 80/20 upgrades/prices

Nope, just offered me the best price possible and I figured it was better than switching to Sky ADSL2+ at £7.50/mo. (Helps that's BT has cheaper line rental as well if you pay in advance.)

edit: Just found out sky do the same line rental discount if you pay in advance. However I think the premium for 40mbps vs 14mbps (what I get on adsl2+) is worth it as I do download a fair bit and I've been very happy with the service for 18 months.

yes your right about the dates :) and just so you no i,m not your Mate !! in fact you only know me as the Spamman lol apart from that you know nothing i might even be in Law for all you know wink wink :))

YES! The BT checker finally has a date for my line! 30th June! However, the cabinet is currently being installed down my road, and my exchange goes live on the 31st March, is it possible I might be able to get Infinity earlier than the estimate date?

OK..... im just offering some friendly advice, hence using the term 'mate' as people normally do - no need to take the literal meaning and be pedantic about it. You can take the advice or not thats upto you - you seem to have wound some people up on here with your posts.

And i couldnt care less about what you do. However, i do know that a lawyer would not use a comma instead of an apostrophe!
