BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

My main concern with FON was that surely any traffic that passes through it could be counted against your usage, if you were on the package that had a 40gb cap or for people on the 300gb cap prior to the cap being lifted any random user could hop on there and blow the cap for you

I checked this out and apparently FON users don't count to any FUP limits. IIRC the answer was on BT's own forum.

Has anyone else found that once a day (sometimes more) their broadband would disconnect for about 30 seconds and the light on the bt home hub 3 go orange?

Got infinity installed today :). I had to wait like 15 days for the engineer appointment but he sorted out our phone wiring, took him like 30mins. Pretty pleased so far!

Was quoted 34mb and so far this is my speed:

Hopefully all goes well, had some problems with BT in the past but they are the only company offering this kind of speed in my area. I live in a pretty rural area and it took us along time just to get normal broadband, so I'm quite surprised and pleased we can get infinity!

tehtom how far are you from the cab? im around 500m max i reckon 400m so i interested to know what your bt estimate was on the infinity checker too

ps gratz :)

I reckon I'm about 200 or 300m from the cabinet, my estimate on the speed checker was 32.5mb. I'm pretty happy with it so far.

we had bt infinity installed last week. our old speedtest was as follows

we were quoted at least 30mb so im really pleased with the speed and the time it takes to download files etc is amazing. not sure why the upload speed isnt to great though.

Im sorta stuck now lads.

How can I tell if we are able to have BT Infinity?

a lot of people are saying a lot of different things in the area, I belong to the Tonyrefail exchange (CF39)

Has anyone else seen their speeds drop? On the 14th of April I was receiving 27mbps down (infinity installed on the 11th) and now my speeds have dropped to 20mbps and have been like this since the 17th.

Not for me, had BT Infinity for about two weeks now and still get 37/38 mbps:

Had infinity installed about a month now. Very happy with the service provided but just ran a speed test and noticed that upload was maxed out at 2Mb/s.

When I did tests in the first few weeks i was always getting >6Mb/s. I wouldn't say I was a heavy user but may of downloaded ~160gb in the first month. Would this of affected the upload speed or am I best getting on the phone to them?

Get on the phone, it should be higher on package 2. Even when they used to throttle, the upload was higher then 2mbps, but they shouldnt be doing anything to your line, i did much worse on my first month and as mentioned they shouldnt care now about how much bandwidth you use.

So I've had infinity a week and its still faster than the estimated I was quoted! Hopefully it will stay this fast.
