BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Q. What's worse than owning a Home Hub 3?
A. Owning two of them.

Has anyone seen any information about 80/20 upgrades from the smaller ISPs?

I agree with the above comments the HH3 is fine if its just one wireless connection :)

apparently upgraded my exchange a few weeks ago. all ive received is a 3rd drop to 220KB/s from 320KB/s.

not best pleased to be honest. using HH2 but would at least expect something nearer 8mb

With much lament I am ditching my Sky broadband for BT Infinity. I like Sky because:

1) it's cheap £5 a month ontop of my TV package
2) fast, 10mb, no limits, throttling
3) call centre in glasgow, got a problem and they get it sorted

my current speed

I'm about to ditch this fantastic service for only a fiver! And go with BT....I hate BT but the speed they are offering I just can't say no to. Engineer comes friday I'm in Aberdeen and we've just got the newest cabinets installed here so will report back with by new speeds.

Well today was the day I got a taste of the real deal with regards to internet speed.

Previously:-

Now:-

I only have two days to wait now until my speed upgrade too. Estimated download speeds were 35.4 & 69.6 for the 40 & 76 packages so a slight improvement can be seen at the moment.

Another positive was that I am connected to a cabinet closer to the one I thought I was on...result.

I currently have BT infinity the 30mb unlimited package. I think I pay around £26 quid.

I read today and checked my exchange that I can now get the BT infinity2 which is 70mb? Will I automatically be upgraded or do I have to inform BT about this.

Thanks for reading.

Aren't sky imminently launching fiber anyway?

Well having re-booted both the router and HH3 we're still not getting more than we did before although speedtest now thinks we're in Aberdeen :p

Sounds something similar that happened to me, before the upgrade. I have always been listed as Aberdeen but it changed to London and resulted in poor speed tests which lasted for most of the day. It was only when speedtest changed back to Aberdeen that my full speed came back again. Just keep checking back and run a speed test once it changes back to your usual server.

Just upgraded from HH3 to the asus rt-56u and have gotten another 1meg down and 8 up :)

I use the HH3 and get those speeds. Pretty sure upgrading the router will have no effect on the sync speed anyway. Think you just did the speedtest at the right time compared to when you did it on the HH3.

Yay South Woodham Ferrers has been activated for Infinity. I have upgraded my account to get it!!!

Apparently I can get 57mb download. My engineer is coming on the 27th April. What do they actually need to do? It didn't say. I already have the Homehub3...

Its been live since March 13th ;)
