BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Things going good for me so far on Sky Fibre Pro

bit disapointed with torrents and upload speed outside of peek times, I am all for limiting upload etc during peek times but after midnight I seem to be capped at around 100kb/s which sucks :'(

Really getting sick of being throttled especially when trying to download gameclients/data that can use p2p as it goes 2 slow. Especially considering I barely download much as it is!

Would getting a VPN bypass this throttling? and are there any people really recommend for bt infinity?

What about torrent encryption, does that not work?

I'm currently with Sky LLU, looking at going FTTC with BT, so far it sounds good but a few questions if you may-

Can I get a MAC and go form Sky to BT as with any other ISP (not sure with being fibre)?

Without reading 205 pages, can you tell me if newsgroups are capped at all?

Anything else to be warned about?

It's available to me on the 12th, excited is an understatment :)

Yep they have it. I'd your able to goFTTC with BT then you would deffo get it with Sky. They released the upgrade for present customers to the Pro Version this week.

You need to call them though

My speeds are fine, my phone line is generally terrible, lots of crackling, the FTTC service has been reasonably resillient to this and ive not had as far as i know any syhc loss's until last night where it was particularly bad.

My IP profile has dropped to 55 mbit even though the line is synced at 80. Any ideas how long the DLM (is that right?) will jack my speed back up again~?

Well reading the comments above, I rang Sky last night and the guy said yes I will be able to get FTTC with them but cannot say when.

I know from various sites that my exchange will be upgraded on the 12th, typically how long am I looking at after this before Sky can upgrade me?

Also will I need a new router?
