BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

If it has Sky LLU then he will be fine I believe, or so I was told. So many conflicting stories

Work still needs to be carried out, even if they have an LLU presence. I can get Sky ADSL2+ but I can't get Sky FTTC, despite BT Wholesale FTTC being available.

Just checked on the BT Openreach checker, it states the Rochdale Exchange is now 'Accepting Orders' whatever that means...

Yet no provider is offering it in my area...I don't understand...

Is any body else finding these forums slow to load?

All other websites are find, but with these forums, I get a lot of waiting time....

Im think it might be a BT routing issues?

I get lots of timeouts when running traceroute.

Exchange going live is a start. Your local cab needs to have an FTTC cab next to it.

I noticed 1/4 mile away theres a big cabinet that never used to exist til this year, FTTC? And where our old fashioned heavy metal cabinet was, it has been replaced with a new flimsy looking one, with another directly across the road facing one another...I'm guessing when it all goes live, I'm good to go and order?

Usenet is not capped. P2P is however, but only peak times, and even then not all the time. I haven't been capped yet the few times I use P2P.

Are you sure? From what my mates have been telling me upload speed on P2P is capped 24/7 no matter what time of day and seems to be capped out at 120kbps max upload.

Two of my mates where actually going to go to trading standards because on the website it says they only cap the speeds at peak times, but they seem to cap upload 24/7 on p2p which goes against what they say when you purchase the product, unless they have their settings set up wrong?

And the internet is sub 1mbs again and 100+ pings.

This is starting to take the **** now tbh.

Still having issues.:D

Mine is behaving its self tonight, hitting 46Mb:eek:, after a week of hell.:(

Mine came good on Sunday (full speeds) and has continued with the only blip being Saturday night (wasn't used during day so can't say).

Just now..

Sounds good, as long as you're connected to it! http://www.coolwebhome.co.uk/fibre/checker.php

I've seen similar reports @ Thinkbroadband. Hardly surprising, given the price of the product. A seedbox is the best solution for people using BT Infinity.

welcome to my world, Foxhall was tweet'd tobe going live on thursday aswell, still can't order(and yes i know my cab is ready ;))

when i phoned up bt on thursday, all they said was DB isn't updated yet, try again in afew days, i'm still on the fence weather to order BT or Sky

BT Throttling Vs Waiting for Sky to enable FTTC on the exchange, i've never been that patient ;)

Hoping im enabled soon

Checker still say by June 30th but the cab is there and a friend a mile or so away has just been enabled

Think im sticking with ADSL24 who have been great to me on LLU, no throttling or anything
They have also just put out their 80/20 prices and increased the off peak hours and reduced installation fee

My ADSL24 service is and has been faultless. I'm still running on the 80/20 service/trial since March, but got an email yesterday saying the following....

We are pleased to announce the highly anticipated launch of our new up to 80 Mb download and 20 Mb upload Fibre Broadband packages as well as changes to some of our existing packages.

Not only do the new packages offer faster speeds, but will also provide an extra 4 hours of unlimited off-peak usage every day - so you can download more without it counting towards your monthly limit. So, on the new packages the off-peak unlimited usage will be brought forward to start from 8pm in the evening instead of midnight. Weekend usage also remains completely unlimited.

With the new packages, we are introducing some new higher usage allowances which are extremely competitive. A full list of our new Fibre packages is displayed below:

At the first possible opportunity if BT and Sky get their acts together, Sky it shall be for FTTC.
