BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

If your exchange does not have FTTC enabled then it's not BE fault. Check on samknows to see if there is any info about FTTC and the LLU operators.

Yes I know that. I have no idea what you are talking about. Be are not going the FTTC route. In my previous posts, if you had bothered to read them i was referring to BT not giving an ETA on FTTC at my exchange.

Your previous comment was worded badly, it suggested you were blaming BE for the lack of fibre.

Mine is the same. It was originally Dec31st 2011 though so every day I'm expecting them to push it back again.

1) Have you noticed new fibre cabinets in the area?
2) If so, is there one near you?
3) Finally, can you hear fans whirring if you listen to it close up?

Suffice to say I cant wait! I'm far from exchange but close to the cabinet, i do get around 3.5mb now

I check every afternoon, the cab is there but the date i think may be pushed back, Openreach vans are in the area so i cant be far away

1) yes, about 4 months ago ish. Also saw BT Openreach feeding string into the ground in the area since then.
2) About 250yard away.
3) Not listened to it but I might have a wander down tomorrow.

BT say my download should be about 57mb once it's connected.

For example, BT wholesale checker tells me my line isn't yet enabled. But thats already apparent as I've noticed the fibre cabinet I'm hooked up to is silent. The cabinet's only been in a few days though.

My inet is still fubar. BT still working on a fix.

Download speedachieved during the test was - 6.11 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 12 Mbps-77.43 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 77.43 Mbps

quick question regarding infinity, do you have to have the BT line with BT? as I have a "BT line but it's with sky, and im only paying them a quid month for the line rental.

You will have to transfer your phone line over to BT before you can order BT infinity.

After the recent issue in Sheffield (and surprise surprise) London at the same time, latency has worsened and I'm now getting 25ms to BBC (or 21-22 after a few reconnections).

Hopefully they've just put in a temporary workaround for now and this is actually part of the plan to permanently fix it.

Had a stroll down this morning, the cabinet is right by a set of lights on a main road so not only is it noisy but I also managed to get there just as the lights went red so a bunch of randoms were probably wondering what the hell I was upto lol.

No discernible noise from it. So hype -1 for now.

Jeez you must be literally next door to the exchange.

well I am only 80 metres from the Telephone exchange and dont have FFTC I am connected directly to the telephone exchange get a great connection.

I am on sky LLU getting rock solid 20Meg download 1150 Upload for 7.50 a month.

in all cant get fibre until they put a cabinet in although the increase does not validate me getting fibre ie 40 meg download 2 meg! upload cost difference is silly 7 pounds 50 compared to 20 pounds for the fibre.

other people connected to the cabinets else were then connect to the telephone exchange no problem so there getting FTTC.

aw well :-)

Not all of them have a whirring noise, the ones around my area are silent. Maybe it depends on the amount of people connected to the cabinet? More people = more workload hence requires active cooling?

After what seems an eternity i've finally been connected to Infinity. Engineer has just left.

So annoying, i'm plugged directly into the exchange, yet cant get FTTC, while a friend who is on the same exchange but via a cab can get it
