BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Nah, unlimited BB. £50 gift card plus cheaper monthly cost, plus easily being able to change the router if its a dud is a big plus for me :)

Was just about to order pro last night didn't realize its £26 plus £14.00 odd for line rental too, had it in my head it was £26 all in.....

Can I upgrade to pro mid term?

66 Mb is 66 megabits, right? You don't mean 66 MB (megabytes...) I am confused I thought 1 MB= 8 Mb, which would make my 3.49 MB per second an equivalent of 27.92 Mbps which indeed would be less than maximum throughput. What am I doing wrong here?

8 bits in a byte.

66/8=8.25MB/s.

you talking about moving to BT? If you are there is no need for a 'pro' service as its already the 80/20 (Bt Infinity2 option 2) that your going for at £26 (equivelant to sky's 'pro' service)

Look around though - I used topcashback to get a £40 cashback and applied through them, plus you should be getting the first four months for £20 (£26pm thereafter - standard BT fibre offer at the moment)

Only downside I found with BT's arrangements are:

A)-poor customer service (as mentioned above)
B)- The telephone line is on a 12month contract whereas the broadband is on a 18-month contract.....

Thinking about placing an order for BT Infinity. Currently on o2 LLU (contact expires in 3 weeks), anyone know if they install on weekends?

I know they do SFI visits on Saturdays but I don't think they MI's at weekends. Although they're that far behind it wouldn't surprise me if they've changed that policy.

Ok I'm sure it's be mentioned before BUT just in case anyone didn't know...

When you renew your line rental saver option (pay for year in advance), BT don't take that months bill payment but rather carry it over to the next month as they feel it's a lot for people to pay out at once.... well this is how it was explained to me whenever I rang to ask why this months bill was almost double. Funny thing is my line rental is paid by credit card and oh look I'll be clearing it this month along with my double BT bill... no answer from customer services on that one.

Ah cashbacks forgot about those bad boys, will have a look prior to placing the order

That's all done online a take it? Think I'll opt for the £26 a month

Just had engineer left, great guy and knew his stuff who did my installation within 20-30mins.This is the speeds i get:

Very happy with it.:D

I had estimated 63/20 on the site, he reckons it probably will hit 80mb when 10 days finished as i am under 300m from cabinet.

Day 1 throughput is probably going to be your max. IP profile banding won't allow you to achieve 80Mb/s throughput. You might already have 80/20 sync.

As others have posted their Infinity speeds, here are mine. Installed about a week ago and I live about 100 yards from the cab. Complete change to the 3mb I was syncing at on ADSL2.

Looks like I spoke to soon line been down two hours..Getting flashing orange light on hub and flashing green dsl on router. Did anyone else here get this? Hope it's a one off during the 10 day thing.

Well my order seems to still be happening!

The router was posted out yesterday so should be here on Wednesday and the install is on Friday.
