BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

I been complaining to BT for several months now, they finally to a partial a 'lift & shift' being done.
In my case I still blame the poor line quality & the length to my cabinet for a lot of my issues.

But, one I have noticed looking at the Draytek status page is my SNR goes from 62 down to 45 at times, not sure how accurate Drayek is at showing this figure.

Still trying to get my line moved to another pole which would shorten the distance to my cabinet by about 400 metres, but it's proving a challenge.

Kiyoshi: Thanks for the link.

Perhaps we are suffering from a dodgy batch of master sockets with busted filters or something?

I too have no extra wiring in my setup, the line was connected just 3 years ago and I ran the extension myself and know that it doesn't go anywhere else.

Out of all the potential issues I thought we might have, the phone being picked up wasn't one of them lol

I'm quite pleased with Infinity so far apart from this, hopefully it turns out to be an easy fix. We only had it installed yesterday so I might give it over the weekend and see if it improves.

Hopefully there is something of use in that thread Nightglow. If nothing else it looks like there's lots of people in a similar situation for some moral support.

My phone and sky are also plugged into the same Master socket that the Infinity comes out of the same as you described in your post. Currently I have them both unplugged in order to see if the phone or sky were causing my dropouts on my Draytek and on the BT kit.

It seems there are too many similarities in our problem to me!

I too am very happy with Infinity and I'm glad I went for Infinity 2 over the standard package. As part of my testing (to see what was causing my disconnects) I downloaded 90gb of files in just 3:40. Had I been on the standard package I would have blown my entire 40Gb allowance in under 2 hours!

Hello everyone, I was surprised to find my area now enabled for FTTC (it was bouncing between September and December).

Anyway, I have a few questions:

1. Are there any bad points with sticking with ADSL24 for the service?

2. I need an ethernet router, will a HomeHub v3 work? I've see these on ebay for £28!

I just need wireless B and wireless schedule control.

Thanks.

I'm experiencing huge packet loss.

Some BT wide issue or is there something wrong here at home?

Reminds me of being on Virgin Media. :(

Not really.

Perhaps we're being routed through the same nodes. I've never had an issue in the 6 or so months I've had the service.

My graph looks similar to yours but for me it only seems to be some sites. The forums are slow, thinkbroadband is very slow but bbc is fine.

Im having issues loading several websites tonight, here is very slow aswell as facebook and twitter, thinkbroadband and others, guess its widespread, nothing on the BT forums yet though and the server status is also not reporting nothing.

Exactly what I'm experiencing.

Been on Infinity just over 10 days now, the line is very very stable, latency is very impressive being low consistently and my linespeed has risen back to 62mb/17mb now(from 56/15) which is more than enough for me.

I am glad i switched from BE now as my line used to disconnect 5 times or so a day and the price was too much for what you get.BT customer support has actually been very good for me so far.

Also got no issues here at the moment with any sites must be area related?

Hi guys, I apologise if this has been asked before.

My brother in law is having issues with Infinity and I suspect it's the homehub, can you use other routers with Infinity? I wanted to hook up a DG834GT to see if that eradicates any issues. Is there any special setup?

Yes you can use other routers. A lot of people use the Asus RT-N56U, which is a great router.

Well since I plugged the BT kit back in I've been stable for 1 day 11 hours so far. I tested my phone to see if it was causing the disconnects in any way but no matter what I did it didn't drop out. Still not plugged the Sky box back in to the phone line yet.

Have the DNS problems gone away for people today?, not sure if its because of less people online or not at present, or its fixed?
