BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

We're waiting here too, but still no news. Registered for an e-mail update and checked the site too but apparently it's no available yet.

We really need better broadband, since the standard BT we have is absolutely terrible. Hopefully we'll get some information soon.

Anyone else on Infinity with another ISP keep having BT Infinity phone them like weekly trying to get you to upgrade to Infinity? Im getting sick of it. Every time they phone up im like i've got it already, they don't believe me, so when i say i get 40mb download they ask how do i get that when my line isn't set-up for infinity?!

I would ask them for a discount as they keep harassing you. Note down the times and take down the names of the rep who calls you. what have you got to lose? No harm in trying, BT muppets!

Yesterday when I checked my postcode they removed any info about Fibre.. i thought ok maybe its because plans for my cab to upgraded where put on hold..

Strange thing I i just checked the postcode of house down a road I know have fibre and have the green cab in plain site with Fibre here sticker on it and none of those house come up with Fibre information on the checker.

You need to use the address checker.

Interesting last few posts...

For months its said 30th September FTTC available.

Got to today, and its now 31st December FTTC available. Weird thing is, all the cabinets around my area have been done bar the one at the end of our road... have they just decided to stop in my area or something !?

One possibility is that Openreach engineers can't be booked for around 2 months in a lot of places anyway.

So this is make or break month for Virgin Media, with the resegmentation scheduled for next week.

If I do need to move, is it simplest to go with BT?

Simplest? Nope, from the mass amount of forums and forum posts I've read regarding BT, no, nothing about it is simple.

Although, this could just be angry customers who keep on getting pushed back and back all the time, for those who have had BT Infinity installed and what not, they all seem to be very happy with their new installation etc.

Just finished putting the DrayTek 2750n in. All working fine except it can't get it's own time from the internet for some odd reason. Have to tell it to use my browser time and hen switch it back to internet time just to get it out of 1970.

Means I don't need the gigabit switch or an additional modem under the TV now so it all looks neater too.

Make sure your running latest firmware v1.5.1.2 for the 2750n.

Check the time zone settings, had same problem with mine, go to User System Maintenance, Time and Date & make sure it's set to London-Great Britain.

I sent an email to the nga address last week and got a reply today. The guy who replied told me I'm on Phase 9b and my cab is due for updating in Mar 13. It's more information than I've had before but I wont hold my breath. I will be keeping my fingers crossed though :)

We'll it seems that the Draytek is having the same connection issues that the Openreach modem was having.

Speeds have been fine and general performance is great, however it's dropping the connection every 2-3 hours or so. The only difference now is that it reconnects itself unlike the BT one. I've tried 1.5.1.2 and the beta firmwares RC1 and RC3.

1.5.1.2 can't even get me online because it can't set the correct time, RC1 & 3 both allow me to get the right time in there but they are still dropping the line.

I'll check the logs when I get home tonight so see what it's done however it's looking like I'll have to plug the BT kit back in as it wasn't dropping this often. From there I can track it again and get BT to fix what might be a problem with the line.

The one upside is that the constant disconnects have not changed my profile too much. On Friday it was 55/15 and now it's 54.5/12.

Installed today but only getting around 40mb of the quoted 65mb. Will this change after it's had sometime to stablise?
