BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Mine didn't move at all during the training period, stayed at 46 down 14 up from the day it was put in.

Any ideas, or just the hallmark of a stable line?

I think it was around what was predicted, there's been no surprises put it that way. I was just expecting an up/down shift during the training period but nothing changed at all.

Not a bad thing, just not what I was expecting. :)

Sounds like you have been lucky and just had a very decent connection, my first 10 days the speed was all over the place, i had the router reseting everyday and the profile getting lower and lower.

Took a few engineers to sort out my line errors, ive now been connected 32 days on the router with no resets and now sit at 75 down and 16 up.

Aye, I think so. I can all but see the green box from my house, so I think that's probably it.

Just spotted your posts on BT's "Care" forum, given the mod over there a little gee-up to keep us posted on developments with the above.net peering grief.

Yeah that was me, night-times has been awful for lot of ppl on infinity lately, just glad a mod has sent all the details to get looked at, i just wish the so called expert in that thread would keep quiet and stop trying to blame ppl machines and to switch connections ie wireless / Ethernet:rolleyes:.

On the BT forums you always get a few posters who think there are network experts when instead they no sod all, guess they feel important in a MOD like status because they have got a few rep stars wooo hooo:D

Yeah I spotted that less-than-helpful response, course everyone's wireless is going to be at fault in a packet loss situation with a common end point... Sigh.

The exchange that serves my parent's place finally got enabled at end of September, but they are still not able to get fibre.

They are a fair distance from the exchange (~2 miles) so I'm assuming their cabinet didn't get enabled, but ran their number through the checker from a few pages back and got this:

Does this mean that their cabinet is defnitely being upgraded? Or is it just total bull?

Yeah, as I mentioned I know that the exchange is already enabled and accepting orders as I used a couple of Danbury numbers to test. My folks are down the road in Little Baddow so I was just hoping someone might be able to tell me if the image I posted means that their cabinet is '100%' going to be enabled or if that's just spiel that they put on everyone's cabinet info!

Hi Dean

Thank you for your email.

I have used the information you provided me to raise an investigation to see if this packet loss issue which appears to be affecting a large number of users can be rectified.

This case is being worked on and once we have an update we will update the thread on the forums to advise further.

Thanks again for bringing this to our attention.

when I put my postcode in the link i provided it actually give me info on the cabinet ( by way of a little coloured pin )

does it not show anything for you?

what you posted is just spiel.. it could be months or years before it gets enabled depending on cost etc.

No, unless I am being totally blind? It shows the enabled exchange, marked with a green 'AO' graphic, and a blue flag marking the postcode I entered, nothing else

If you don't mind me asking, what postcode are you putting in, just so I can see what you mean? Because I tried putting some postcodes in from areas around the exchange and it shows nothing for them either.

Such as john46? lolololol. :D

Great post by MilanoChris:

:D

Yeah hes the so called expert in there forums , he knows as much as me which is not very much concerning networks.

Most threads he constantly backs up BT, very annoying when you know for sure the fault is BT's
