BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

MilanoChris: Looks like you're getting routed via Sheffield (.sf.21cn-ipp.bt.net) but you're on fastpath as you have a 5ms first hop. It's a pretty common thing especially south and west of London - I get roughly the same thing in Wandsworth... iwrox is going via London Faraday (.l-far.21cn-ipp.bt.net), which seems more common for people east of London.

It really really really annoys me :(

Thread on their forums here http://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Infinity/BT-routing-and-latency-issues/td-p/542091

Also lots of massive plonkers sticking their oar in :)

Woo that nga email address replied to me;

In your locality work is ongoing. Currently the estimated date for cabinet 16 enablement is close December 2012 assuming there are no major issues.

They better not have any major issues :(

I had a fun day of waiting inside all day with no call from the engineer saying they couldn't come, had to find that out by calling customer service and being put on hold for 30 minutes. Not impressed at the moment.

I hate their forums, it's full of idiots and know it alls, all of them know the square route of **** all and that's including the people that work for BT.

I know which two you speak of, idiots the pair of them, in their mind every issue is your fault or your equipment, never BT.

They always seem to ask WHY on every question too.

Webby is an idiot.

Radius server in Sheffield, which gives IP addresses? lolut

Also icmp is low priority traffic which is dropped by routers? lolwut

He makes half of his posts up, it's pretty dire if you ask me.

Agreed I find it so stupid to have the server located in Sheffield, even living close-ish to it - it still doubles my ping compared to other ISP's god only knows why people that live in London get routed to the north is a complete joke.

I still have my case open with BT head office so I have emailed them. It may be an actual fault yet the network bods aren't aware of it due to 1st line/2nd line not progressing it due to there being no 'actual' fault. I'll post back any response I get.

has anyone here had any trouble getting a profile reset bt are not helping ever since they did maintenance in my area it is now 48meg sync and with interleaving on

before i use to sync at the full 80meg and 5ms pings very frustrating every call to bt no one understands **** all and im starting to get ****ed off when they say they will
call back but nothing is sorted

one guy didn't even know what interleaving was i mean come on...
and that bt forum is full of idiots

recent speed test

this is not acceptable for an 80meg service i can understand if my line couldnt handle 80meg speed but my line has been on 80meg fine before

what is the use in that bt forum no one seems to help shocking
get the same rubbish leave it running for a few weeks speeds will go back to normal...

Bullitt is the worst of the lot I reckon, as I struggle to believe he even knows what day of the week it is. Webby knows a little bit more but seems to enjoy trolling people with standard 1st/2nd level helpdesk style answers.

I'm not quite sure how they manage to post so much/spend so much time on there and still know the square root of stuff all.
