BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

can the modem sync at different speed without it getting reset? didnt lose connection but line sync now Line rate (kbit/s) 48997 instead of 42

bt dude will be here monday hope when he resets it will put me back onto fastpath again which i had for 5 months fine 5ms pings..:P

D 1: means fast path right but its only on the upload?

The MSAN can force a VDSL2 resync if it wants to reduce or increase the speed. After removing my 2750n and going back to the OR modem my speeds gradually stepped up from 55 to 72 over a period of about a week.

Interleaving was also turned off.

Yes, your download interleaving is at 857.

You might find that the engineer visit is unnecessary, since DLM will get you back to where you were eventually anyway, providing the line fault or interference has gone.

think my profile is stuck mate its been going from 2 sync speeds
goes from 42199 and 48997 same numbers for the past 14 days

ever since bt went down for maintenance had these problems
when he resets it should start back on fastpath like it did when i first had it installed

can fastpath come on without a modem re sync?

which program do you use to monitor these stats thanks

Ah fair enough then, the profile reset will indeed force interleaving off, hopefully the MSAN doesn't enable it again. I don't believe interleaving can be enabled/disabled without a VDSL2 resync.

These stats are generated using munin along with these scripts:

Ok my new cab was installed last week, so I decided to wait a few days before re-checking the usual places for availability.

BT roll out map: Sept 30th
Open-reach: Dec 30th
Samknows: Sept 30th

Which one should I believe? Its also worth noting that if I use the address checker via BT it says its not available.

i think bt are doing less throttling of torrents or is it just me

It varies. Network load, time of day and IP address have to be taken into consideration. I've found certain IP ranges have really strict traffic shaping.

They're all rolling dates. BT map & Samknows are out of date.

Now that is interesting, I have a 2750n, & noticed the same thing.
Does BT have a way to know what modem you have connected & restrict your connection for not using BT kit?

As we're past the 30th September I would say Openreach :p.

As above though they're all holding dates so it could either be any time from now until that date, or it'll roll on to the next holding date (31st March 2013).

BT have ****ed me off this week need to book an bt engineer to reset my profile line really? so all he will do is come round and call up bt wholesale for a line reset
why cant just they do it over the phone all this hassle is not needed

I'm not sure how true this is but I was told by Zen that it's actually *not* possible for them to reset without visiting the cab unlike with ADSL.
Maybe Openreach haven't quite sorted out their remote access to the equipment in there yet? ;) This was a good 6-8 months ago now though. But I don't think they'd send out an engineer for nothing. Although it's BT. Maybe they would. Who knows really

I just switched from Be.. to BT infinity 2.
was with them for 6 years getting a nice stable speed all the time. only ever called them 3 times.

OpenReach guy just left.. and..

Can't moan. lets see what happens when i get me a VPN..

Anyone got a recommendations..

I'm with Be* a the moment and .. wow.. I can't wait until this comes to our area. I'm getting similar speeds at the moment to what you were getting.

How can you tell if you are on Fastpath or not?

I currently get 75mbit down / 16mbit up with ping of around 10-15ms on speedtest.net , I always assumed interleaved usually gave pings of 20+ and was part of their DLM measures. (But not under usual circumstances)

Hi folks - is there any way to check when my cab might be upgraded? I'm currently on a Sky line, and my exchange it FTTC enabled.

Unlock the modem. traceroute bbc.co.uk

In theory I don't think that's possible but two of us having the same issue is a bit suspicious.

What were your speeds with and without the 2750n?

Did you notice if interleaving was enabled on your line when you were using the 2750n?

Personally I think this is an issue with the Draytek firmware and am going to return it, since our connection is used for VoIP and interleaving makes this a nightmare.

Just a traceroute should be enough to figure out if you're on fastpath or not. If you get 5-6ms first hop, you're on fastpath.
