BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

yep pretty much after 6pm the speed dies off and doesn't really recover until 12.

The whole of the last weekend it was 10mbs or so.

Does every one get this drop?

I wont be happy if my connection drops! Thats not what im paying for!

My infinity is going to be installed tomorrow morning, so I guess il find out.

It better not drop during peak times, otherwise whats the point! Im better of staying with Be there!

I'm not seeing any drops. :o Can't really see more than ~20Mb at the moment as my wireless adapter is an 11g one (will sort that out next week fortunately), but I've had those 20Mb pretty consistently. Last time I checked with cable straight into the router I got 38Mb. :)

I haven't seen a drop once, I am guessing some exchanges are just packed (My exchange only serves 10k)

Everyone in my area seems to have Sky BB also ^^

Noticed my speed dropping too now ... initially for 2 months or so i got 38mb/s but now its down to 14mb/s and dropping.
BT say my exchange is full :( not happy tbh.

When you notice a speed drop would be interesting to see if its throttling or lack of bandwidth... someone wanna try through Expat Shield? ^^

Hope my exchange doesn't go like this :D

Yeah that's my exchange, Burton down the road has 30k lines and they can't provide Broadband or phone lines at all now, no capacity at all.
That's bad. You'd think they'd have taken measures before it got to that. :o

On a different note, out of curiosity I'd like to know what 11n stuff you guys're using with your Infinity connections. I've got an E3000 which I'm loving, but I'm not sure what to get as far as adapters go. xD

Anyone know the ip address of accessing the Huawei HG612 modem ?

So far so good on my end , loving the speed and latency isnt that bad at all.

Yeah , ah well !

Im sure there is a way , but it seems the modem has a custom BT firmware on it and cant be accessed via ip browser access

Out of curiosity, why'd you want to access the modem config anyway? It pretty much just passes the signal through to whatever LAN-side device it's connected to, so configuration should be done on that device instead.

When I got my connection installed, I left a note for the OpenReach guy as I wasn't home at the time, asking him to leave details of the access details to the modem and any PPPoE details it might use for itself. His answer was that there wasn't any. :P
