BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Thanks, but did you really need to quote the whole of my last post? ;)

Does FTTC has some kind of training period, seems to be a bit of debate around as to whether it does or not....
Good idea. xD

Regarding the training period, there wasn't one for me as far as I'm aware.

This is my speed now, after about 6 my speed drop to sub 10mbs

My est was 32.5 and 8.5 up I sync at full speed.

Did you do the install your self? the wires and the face are not the ones BT openreach would install.

Edit: I see he didn't change the socket,

I have the same faceplate as you a brand new one and I also have an Austin Taylor one too, would it be worth me fitting mine instead?

Yea he installed it all, then i ripped out cheap and nasty RJ11 and used mine, the one in the pic, Think it was this IIRC...

Thats a nice high quality Cat6 RJ45 cable to the router. Good cable but a bugger as its so stiff (got it from work if your wondering) So i tacked it to the skirting board away from the power leads etc. :)

Regarding the socket, Well i asked if it was going to be changed, but he said no. Apparently the new ones (with the FTTC Socket on the top) is just a pre filtered faceplate. The same as what i have there. But he said the one i have is a better quality one so he wont change it. It was only installed a year or so ago when i had massive line noise issues, The upgraded that, and a load of the cabling, Drop wire etc.

Tbh, i have no idea if its any better or not, am just going by what he said.... Am syncing at the max though so am happy.

Get a shorter RJ11 cable :p
I intend to. But i want one that is of good quality, not the 'standard' crap they use.. Know anywhere? :)

Am using the Netgear WNDR3700 if anyone's wondering by the way, cracking router it is too...! :D
