Please post a speedtest when it's live.
Its not all bad, they are enabling exchange lines, just slower than cabinets.
As it stands EO lines cant have FTTC due to some kind of regulation NOT allowing VDSL to be used inside an exchange. Its not yet 100% clear what BT intend to do, or indeed when they are going to do it!
The communication providers who are the customers of BT Wholesale and Openreach have been briefed to expect a new 220 Mbps download speed FTTP product to launch in the first half of 2013. This looks likely to launch at around the same as the fibre on demand product and will give three main speed tiers 110, 220 and 330 Mbps.
Assuming that trials all run to plan, those consumers who find getting time off work to be at home for the FTTC install, stand to gain from the launch of a "wires only" which will avoid the need for an engineer visit to the home.
They've already launched a 160mb option on BT Retail website, shame I can't get FTTP though as i'd jump all over that.
Spoke to them today, 160mb is in beta in most areas, you will still be able to get it if you are FTTC. so thats good news. But not everyone will be able to get it they say.

What? It's a live FTTP product, only available to those in FTTP areas. Anyone served by an FTTC cab will be able to get fibre on demand next year.
So OFCOM stifle innovation, but when they are needed to sort out incompetence, they are toothless incompetents?
Has there been any realistic hints at upload speed improvements beyond 20mb in the near future? We get FTTC enabled in December and i had been considering moving from virgin but with being on 120/12 now i'm not sure the hassle would be worth it for 20mb up.
also does the DLM set and increase the max attainable rate like can it cap it lower to what it can really do
