BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Someone make the decision for me. BT or Sky :p.

I thought the general consensus was that if Sky was available you always went with that over BT?

I finally got some answers on my cab, its been pushed back 4 times. and now sits at March 2013

In the end it was the @BTCare twitter that helped me out not the crap dga email address

They got in touch with the local area manager to find out exactly what was wrong and the issue is getting power to the cabinet, everything else is in place

They are hopeful to have this resolved by the end of the year and I have noticed some fresh marking around the cab for digging so heres hoping its not far off now

Infact i have just checked the Scottish roadwords register and there are works planned by BT at the cab location on Dates : 26/11/2012 - 06/12/2012 so happy days!

When our Infinity was first installed, we got about 27meg (estimated 27.5 by the BT website). Since then I have noticed a number of reductions in the speed, but the biggest has come recently and we now only get ~12meg, less than half the original speed! This is very poor, and I intend to contact BT about it, but I'm not sure of the best way of doing so. Do any of you guys have experience of this/have any recommendations?

Phone them and tell them your speed has reduced by 50%. Don't forget to reboot all your kit first and test before doing it cos this fixes it most of the time.

I have BTInfinity and have a great experience using the gigabit-ethernet but not impressed with wifi.. all my wifi equipment is this years model with wifi-N and I only get 144mbps using HomeHub3 and the same when I use my old Netgear DGN2000.. Should I be looking for new hardware for my access point? what do you guys/girls recommend?

Just tested out my connection with torrenting linux distributions. Downloads were around 4-6.3 MB and uploads were around 1.7MB. Quite impressed even though I dont torrent...

Good bye BE LLU...

Been having same problems here, BT customer service was useless, so I wrote to Ian.Livingston CEO BT ([email protected])
including speedtests, photo's.
He appointed a Executive Level Technical person to look at my case, after a month I managed to get a D side swop authorised, which improved my ping from usual 50ms or higher down to 7ms -10ms.

Didn't last though, connection back to it's bad old ways, couldn't make any further progress with BT, so I complained to Ofcom.

Ofcom has been superb, just submitted my final statement, speedtests, photo's,etc, & now waiting for their decision.

Can't say more at this moment, but I will post the outcome in a few weeks, but I can say Ofcom has put forward some interesting demands to BT for settlement.
