BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Mine was on the holding date of 31st December and I checked yesterday and found its now available, so it does swing both ways;)

I've just checked my date which was meant to be 31st December and it's back to March now too... The new CAB has been installed for 3 months, what the hell are they doing!

I am confused about my area on the openreach website and it says accepting orders and they even tweeted that it went live from 10th dec.
Just put my number into the btwholesale above and that now says 31st March

Exchange is SLWD

@SuperOwl86

"Accepting orders" applies only to the exchange, and probably relates to the ISPs putting their equipment in there. The other half of the problem is getting your local fibre/VDSL cabinet enabled.

Any date which marks the end of a financial quarter is simply a holding date - 31st December, 31st March, 30 June etc. Any date given during one of those quarters is likely to be more firm.

mine originally said 31st Sept, in October it changed to 31st December, i checked on Dec 4th and it said its now available.

Ordered it straight away. My phone line is being switched over to BT on 2nd Jan and then they said it will be 10days to Infinity. Cabinet is 2 stone throws away. expected 69 down and 20 up. currently 6 down 1 up so its like 10x faster expected.

How close to the estimated to people actually get?

I have a 20GB cap from Eclipse on 8Mb ADSL (7.5~Mb currently) £14.99 - Its been a solid service and excellent support since 2006. But...their FIBRE Prices are a too Rich.

My local exchange has just gone FTTC, so I'm seriously thinking of switching to PLUSNET (Who are owned, but not run by BT)
They are offering Unlimited : 76Mb for £19.99 or 38Mb for £15.99

...anyone got any experiance with Plusnet customer service?

The last two days we've had something being installed directly next to the new cab that was installed a few months ago. Slimmer green box, seems to have ripped half the pavement out around it to install it, any ideas if its FTTC related? Current holding date is still down as 30th Dec...

Thats what they did here - put a smaller (about 25% smaller face on and about half the depth) box beside the main cabinet for FTTC - the FTTC boxes have extra ventilation ports for cooling so if its got a square area of little vent holes in a grid its probably an FTTC cab.

I'll try get a better look tomorrow - most times I pass it, its dark out, currently behind lots of cones :p

Strange, as they ripped out the old cab in september and installed a new one, would have thought they'd just install the lot at once?

Ah well, as long as its a sign I'll see FTTC this side of the decade I'll be happy.

Anyone having any slow down on infinity2 speeds? Last few days D/L speeds have more or less halved from 76Mbps to around 38 Mbps. I sometimes see it fluctuate to 60Mbs for 5/6 seconds before decreasing again... Upload is still at 18Mbps though?

I'm having trouble regarding upload speed.
Download on websites is fine, download on torrents is fine, upload on websites is fine, upload on torrents is not fine, tried getting a friend to download something off me via FTP and it was full speed, asked him to leech a torrent and it was not.
I get around 100kB/s at all times when seeding, I'm the only seeder on this torrent so I know it's not them just leeching off other people.
I asked BT and they said "we do not throttle p2p", I've tried resetting all my equipment, but it still remains the same.
I'm in a DMZ, and the issue only popped up 2-3 days ago, before then I was getting my full 2.2MB/s upload speed. Using an ASUS N56U router.

Anyone else getting slow P2P upload?

Just seen my exchange is now accepting orders yay

But boo as done the check and can only get 38.6, is this likely to go up at all?
