Happy with that.

just had a look outside and there a black (painted) cabinet and a bit larger 3 door (or was it 3) cabinet that's new and green.... none of which have any labelling/markers for identification :( I'm really hoping that's my BT cab... I can throw stuff at it as it's so close (like 50 yards..if that) BRING ON the quoted speeds and low ping :D hehehe shame got a month to wait till the bits are posted out then a few days more for the guy to sort it :(

Is it worth phoning up now and then seeing if they have had any cancellations and can bring the date forward?

Don't bank on it being your cab, there is one on my road, probably 150metres away. I'm actually connected to one about a mile away according to the engineer who installed mine. End of my road is Bow Road, I'm connected to the Mile End cab!

even so, 70mb+ up, 16+ down, 9ms ping. :)

Either the other cab isn't a mile away or your connected to the nearer one - at ~5kft you won't get above 30mbit max.

You reckon he was lying so he could work a little slower? There is one at the end of the road (which he says isn't me) is 0.2mi, another outside Bow Road underground which is 0.3mi and then Mile End is actually 0.6mi. (all those are walking distances by road, though and not line of sight)

So maybe he was exaggerating?

No idea - but the current VDSL2+ profiles don't give you 70mbit at distance of the best part of a mile - assuming ~0.6mile cable length thats about 40mbit sync speeds.

EDIT: From my recent experiences with openreach engineers tho most are pretty clueless and I have no idea how they are doing the job... tho fair enough the one who came out finally and fixed everything did get everything fixed and knew the telephony side pretty well but the stuff he was saying about Infinity was patently incorrect.

Interesting to know. For me to be achieving these speeds, it must be the 0.3/0.2mi cabs then, surely.

We are getting new cabs in Bourne now, but I can not find the cab I am connected to are they any maps or anything like that to look at?

Thats a holding date - it may be earlier or later than that date - at the current rate your probably looking at Feb tho for it being enabled.

I know, the reason why I said shock horror is because last month it said by 31st December 2012 which I knew was never going to happen. :p:D

DLing an update on steam at an average 9472.66 KB/s - absoutely ridiculous - said I was happy with ~10MBit/s ADSL2+ but loving downloading a 1.6GB patch in under 3 minutes :D
