BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Send an email to [email protected], give them your telephone number and postcode, ask when the cab will be ready. :)

How long does it normally take for them to reply?

I do realise that they will be getting swamped with thousands of emails but just wondered how long peeps on here had to wait?

This is the Out of Office reply I got;

Thank You for contacting Openreach about Fibre Broadband.

Unfortunately due to high volumes of enquiries there will be a delay in our reply.

Please bear with us and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

With Regards

NGA Enquiries Team

@Mike306

When I emailed them they replied in 4 days. Bear in mind though that I emailed them on a Friday, and 2 of those days were the weekend.

In my experience the [email protected] address is a waste of time

I had much more success and quick response from twitter contacting @BTcare, they sent me a webform, emails and a a couple of phone calls once they had all the info. Turns out the cabinet had issues getting power which is now resolved but im still waiting.

Nga response was basically wait until "insert random holding date here" and see if you can order

Small win but i imagine little will change

BT Infinity Dates Rolled Back for the Last Time!
What Does this Mean?

Well for starters, to clarify it doesn’t mean you’re going to get BT Infinity any sooner!
But what it should mean is that BT should only advertise dates if they correspond to actual scheduled plans.

This should put an end once and for all to the practise of advertised dates being rolled back 3 months again and again.

What that means is that you should be able to go to the BT Infinity site, check to see when your line is enabled and confidently believe that the date they provide is accurate, as according to that recent ASA Ruling the dates must now correspond to scheduled plans.

Thanks for mentioning my blogpost ;)
But just to clarify that an ASA ruling against BT is no small thing!
The ASA released details of this adjudication to the Press earlier this week under embargo until today.

We've all had Infinity dates pushed back again and again so it's very easy to be cynical about BT's approach to this - but remember, this is the first time this has gone as far as a ruling from the ASA Council.
Previously it went to an informal agreement with the ASA - and even then BT acted (even if it was nowhere near what was agreed)

There have been other ASA rulings against BT for other issues in the past and they've always acted on them - probably for fear of being banded in the ASA's hall of shame as well as getting bad press.

According to BT, they're working on a brand new tool to check broadband availability that they plan to launch early this year.

Whilst this ruling not going to get you Infinity any sooner, it should put an end once and for all to incorrect dates being advertised and dates being rolled back again and again.

In the unlikely event that BT did continue to do that, then I'd be straight back to the ASA with another complaint - and I'd expect the ASA (who have just a little more clout than us!) to make life difficult for BT if they did.

In the meantime I'm going to re-contact BT's CEO and BT's Director of Infinity Project and band this ASA ruling in their face with a "told you so" smugness tone, and see if I can get them to comment :D

A little transparency from BT would have helped the situation, instead of computer says no approach and move the dates 4 times in year every quarter.

Thanks for the reply's, if I don't get an answer I'll try twitter.

Great speeds there DirtyJ, you'll be able upload some serious food and drink pics now!:cool:

Still waiting here for my cab to be done (exchange already live). Not sure if they're bothered about us out here in The Wilds, been making enquiries with Openreach/BT but still no confirmation as to whether our cab is on the list to be upgraded. Will keep badgering them though until I get a yes or a no.

When the BT network is slow it's frustrating - however I'm pleased to say that is so very rare.
My connection "synced" up at the full 80/20 and over that I'm getting a stable 74/18.
I honestly never saw myself going back to BT - but I'm pleased I did. Even when I spoke to someone in the Indian support centre at 11:00pm I was pleased to see they were able to help and sort out a small issue.

Mine never goes above 69mb even though during the first few days it synced at 75mb fine, is there any way it will return? i am very happy with the connection though.
