I just randomly checked my house with samknows and it shows FTTC is now available, although it conflicts with itself on the main list still saying 31st march. The bt wholesale checker still says 31st march, is it possible it's now enabled here but will take time for everything to update?
Samknows will be going by the exchange live date, cabs get enable on various dates.
Is there any way to geographically identify how far I am away from my Cabinet? I know it's number.
Having always been a broadband blackspot here due to long reach to the exchange and/or old, bad quality line, I'd hoped maybe they would have made efforts to provide us with a service now that the technology is available for them to do so. Ah well, the price for living in the sticks I suppose. Thanks a lot BT!The rollout is based on the commercial criteria for each cabinet. Unfortunately when assessed cabinet (xxxxxxx), to which your line is connected, did not meet these and is not included in the rollout programme. This is because the cabinet was unable to provide a return on the Fibre to the Cabinet investment after construction and on-going running costs. Where cabinets are not commercially viable Government funding is available to Borough and County councils to improve fibre coverage and it is worth contacting your Council in relation to this.

BT Openreach Confirm UK ISP Pricing for FTTP on Demand Pilot Phase 2
Today Openreach has confirmed the pricing for Phase 2, which will see its 330Mbps (30Mbps upload) FTTPoD service given an annual rental price of £456 inc. VAT (£38 a month) and a one-off connection fee of £500 (note: a scary 36 month contract term will apply); as above, extra construction charges still apply. As usual this does not include all the extra costs that ISPs must add on top (i.e. the retail price will be more expensive).

Not too keen on the 36 month contract either.
Do you know of any plans to run the service from Exchanges, or FTTC from exchanges? May have asked this already, sorry!
Why? If it works as described and the fee is affordable then what difference does it make?
I don't want to be stuck with the same ISP for 3 years!
Too many things can change in that amount of time.
And too many things can stay the same. I've spent the last 4 years with Be. Excellent throughout.
Since my exchange has been RFS I've been making enquiries as to why my cab is yet to be upgraded, received this mail the other day from Openreach:

I wish my 18month contract with BT would end already, terrible service.
