BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

I asked him if it was the FTTC and he confirmed it was, I asked if it would be ready for next month when the exchange went live and he said back end of next week

Don't believe a word the engineer tells you, they are nearly always wrong with provision dates.

Got my installation being installed on next Tuesday, hoping it all goes well and finally off this Adsl line. Will be able to update games and play not long after updating instead of waiting for hours and hours.

Saw a great sight yesterday! BT were fitting a new fibre cab opposite the cab i am connected to :D. We have had Fibre in our exchange Braintree for about 2 years but my cab although being on a brand new development was deemed not financially viable back then but i believe this has been funded through the council so well happy! The BT vans were there yesterday with the big rolls of cable and after walking by this morning the ground works appear to be all done so im really curious to know when i can actually try and order the FTTC. Will hopefully go with sky as my current crappy adsl LLU 2mb BB is with them.

The problem i have is even though our development is 2 years old the postcode still nevers shows up on most BB checkers and the ones that do find it still show as FTTC not available

is that a sarcastic answer or is there something to gain by having them on all the time?

Sarcastic, unless you actually have problems with black/brown outs then a UPS on a router and modem is ott in an average home environment. But yes, do leave them on all the time, the more disconnects the more likely that your BRAS profile will get screwed up and lower speed etc

Does anyone know if i will be able to get Infinity? the website says i can but the nearest little green phone cable box...thing is over 500m away. IT has an infinity ready sticker on it but not sure if im too far away to benefit? Actual exchange is 3.5 miles away in another villiage.

Currently on 3mbit line (AOL) lol.

Serious. DLM and power cuts do not mix.

Had mine in a month now. On 80/20 and get downloads upwards of 7500k/s.

The cabinet is 8 feet from my house (3 feet from property) :)

It crosses a footpath. Health and safety :(

Just done that BRAS checker:

This is a 21CN line.
The current Downstream BRAS rate is: 77.44 Mbps
The current Upstream BRAS rate is: 20 Mbps

Well so far in two weeks of Fibre ownership BT have dropped the connection 49 times, lost DNS 184 times  and fobbed me off more than any sane person can deal with. My account manager no longer speaks to me because she thinks it perfectly fine for this to happen but I don't. I think sending a complaint directly to the head of BT in Wales may have helped...

In short, I would never entertain using BT for anything as long as I live.
