BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

If you want to know if you can get FTTP just hit one of their 'Check BT Infinity availability' links and stick your number in. If FTTP is available (unlikely for most people) they'll show you the options.

Ooooh! Looks like the New Home Hub 5 is now available to purchase at a reduced rate for existing customers - £45 (instead of £129)

I'm very interested in this!, I can get one of my Plug Sockets back!! :D

I seem to be getting a lot of disconnects lately, it's weird though. It was fine when I had my HH3, but I upgraded to to a HH4 and this is when the problem started. The internet will be working, then it'll suddenly stop for no reason, can happen at any time during the day or night, (annoyingly when I'm using my ip phone for conf calls!) and the only way to get the net back is to either restart the HH4 or rather oddly, wake my PC up and open any webpage, then it seems to come back.
I'm now on a replacement HH4 as I thought his was the issue, but it still happens :(

Got the net back at 0700 by waking the Pc up to grab the log, trying to surf on the iPad just gave no connection warnings :(

I've been getting random disconnections on my HH3, all the lights are on on both units! I thought it was my tp-links but I replaced them and it still happens! Annoyingly whilst I'm RDP'ing into my office!!!

Like you I then wake it up by going to a web page, though its not instant! By the time its back up my RDP has disconnected it won't reconnect on its own and I need to log in again!!

I have a feeling BT are doing some work somewhere, and its messing with my connection!

BT incredible quick today! usually only get 65mb ish

anyone on bt getting problems connecting to fb and ebay and bbc? ocuk forums seem fine but eveyrthing else is really slooooooooow as of 10pm Tuesday night 19/11

Yeah I'm getting problems in Manchester area, random performance issues on a BT infinity connection, it works fine for a minute and then starts dropping out pages not loading etc

Speedtest at first showed my speed was limited to 2mb, it went back to normal and is now showing the correct speed but its not behaving normally, pages not loading properly etc

Ahhh. Landlord served us notice after three years ! Infinity due to be available on my cab in January. Which is when we have to be out by !

Trying to find decent Gaff in the same area but we are at the lower end of the renting spectrum so v limited choice. Fttc will be a factor for me though.

yup im in Macclesfield.... just wanted to be sure it wasn't my equipment ( oooh errrr mrs ) lol

BT have definitely been doing something I got a drop out for about 10 minutes about 3am last night and after that it came back up pinging 3ms instead of 6ms to the first hop and was being routed properly with 8ms ping to bbc site, dropped again and now its back to 18ms to bbc with poor routing :( though still 3ms to first hop.

So after being told to "shut up and listen" on the phone to the Indian on the other end of the Talktalk call centre, I finally got an authorised MAC, it arrived today, which is good as I thought it would take the full 5 days. Must have been the threat of Ofcom... let's hope it is valid!

Ordered Zen Unlimited Fibre 2 which is their 80mbit service, even though I can only get 46 down and 6 up, this means if my cabinet or street line gets upgraded then I will instantly be upgraded at their end.

I had to decide on the router on the phone so chose Netgear out of two ones I had never heard of, and a Draysus, hope I have made the right choice? I figure if I decide to upgrade to one of those fancy Asus ones, I have better chance of selling the Netgear on than a Teknikolor?

So roll on the BT engineer visit later this week! Really looking forward to the jump from 2mbit to 40mbit I will finally be able to stream on the BBC iPlayer without having to wait for it to buffer every three minutes!
People lucky enough to be on Google's 999mbit service must feel like they are in geek heaven!

Didnt want to make a seperate thread about this (so sorry mods if I should have);

I just got back from a few days away and a flyer had come through my door for FTTB (to the building rather than cabinet) from HyperOptic - who I understand used to be Be Unlimited.

Had choices of 25Mb / 100Mb / 1Gb speeds, and I have initially gone for the middle option at £35/m.

This is a pre-order, as the equipment hasnt yet been put in the basement, but hopefully by monday I will get a clearer idea of when thats happening. Ive put in an additional request for a 2nd faceplate too for the living room.

Just hoping its not too long a wait....

How much was the 1gbit service, and is that unlimited or capped?
